Chapter 40 The Middleman

Luna was almost knocked over by Charles, instinctively grabbing his shirt, and the next moment she heard a ripping sound.

Luna had torn off three buttons from Charles' shirt, revealing his firm and toned chest.

And the faint outline of his pectoral muscles.

As Charles held Luna by the waist, his immediate reaction was that she was so soft and comfortable.

He momentarily forgot to let go!

When he felt the cold air on his chest, Charles looked down, seeing  Luna staring at his pecs in a daze.

Charles' expression changed instantly.

"Eyes glued, huh?"

Charles said as he was about to let go, but then he realized that if he did, Luna would fall to the ground.  Then he reluctantly tightened his grip and pulled Luna up.

Inexperienced, he misjudged his strength while pulling Luna up, accidentally pulling her into his arms.

The two of them instantly had a close encounter, tightly embracing each other.

A moment ago, he was holding her. Now, he was hugging her.

Charles fell silent, a stark contrast to Eric's smile. Luna, outwardly calm, masked her true emotions.

Luna felt her heart pounding. Her chest had just collided with Charles' pecs. She felt like she had hit a wall of flesh.

It was indescribably awkward.

Charles wasn't feeling any better. He still had that indifferent look as if Luna had taken advantage of him.

"Charles, Don't flatter yourself. Okay, maybe I looked. But blame your shirt, not me! It ripped with just a light pull! Next time, wear a better quality shirt!"

Upon her saying, Luna turned to leave.

Her face inexplicably flushed, and her heart raced.

It was her first time hugging a man so closely, and the last person she expected it to be was Charles. She was too overwhelmed to even process it.

Although she never thought about dating, she didn't want her first intimate hug with a opposite sex to be with Charles, this picky arrogance!

It was also Charles' first time!

She was complaining about his shirt? Too irony! One of those shirts could cover her living expenses for a year.

Why didn't she say she was rough?

If he had known, he would have let go and let her fall to the ground!

Ten minutes later, the three of them went out.

As soon as they opened the door, Luna noticed a familiar piece of clothing on the ground outside.

Luna was puzzled, "Isn't this jacket... Warren's?"

Guilt washed over Charles, prompting him to turn his head and pretend he hadn't heard.

"I hung this jacket on the hook before. How did it end up outside?" Luna muttered to herself.

Charles thought for a moment and said, "Maybe when the door opened, a strong wind blew it out."

Luna doubted, "The wind blew it?"

She didn't believe Charles' explanation.

How strong would the wind have to be to blow it to the door?

"Luna, it was me. When I opened the door for ventilation today, the wind accidentally blew it out. I forgot to tell you."Eric said.

Luna believed Eric's words.

She didn't think much of it, picked up the jacket, patted off the dust, and hung it back up. She planned to wash it before returning it to Warren.

Eric winked at Charles.

He had accidentally seen Charles throw the jacket.

He took the blame for Charles.

Charles cleared his throat, took the initiative to push Eric's wheelchair, and gave him a meaningful look.

This kid was much cuter than his sister!

Charles didn't expect that he and Eric would have a shared secret.

When the three of them reached the parking lot, they found that their car was blocked by a red SUV.

The other party's phone still went unanswered. Charles' face grew darker.

He hated people who didn't follow the rules, selfishly inconveniencing others for their own convenience.

Although parking spaces were tight at Mountain Vista Gardens, there were still available spots, just a bit further away.

Charles' parking spot was close to the residential entrance. Some inconsiderate drivers would block others' cars for convenience.

Luna arranged for Eric to get in the car first, then turned to look at Charles.
