Luna's words hit Charles hard, leaving him speechless. He always thought only old folks who collected trash would eat other people's leftovers, like scraping the cream off cake boxes.
"Alright." Luna paused and showed Charles the sweater she was working on. The hole was barely noticeable unless one really looked for it.
"I'm heading to bed. Good night." Luna waved at Charles, holding the sweater.
"Luna," Charles suddenly called out.
"Yeah?" Luna turned around, looking puzzled.
"How's that classmate of yours doing now?" Charles wasn't just curious about what happened next; he wanted to understand Luna's world, a world he had never known.
Luna's voice was steady. "She stayed at the school after graduation. Her job and income are stable, but she hasn't dated anyone. Her parents are greedy. They want her to support her brother and get married in her hometown. They want to marry her off to a man in his forties who's an alcoholic and prone to domestic violence. If she refuses, they cause trouble at her workplace because they know how much she values her job."
"So, no happy ending for her yet. She's still holding on, refusing to compromise. But I know she won't give in, even if she quits her job," Luna said.
Luna didn't bring Charles a story with a perfect ending. That classmate might have to go through tough times before things got better..

Before Ethan reached the bus stop, a figure suddenly rushed out from the side, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him to the roadside.
