Chapter 192 Being Born Is Easy, Living Is Easy, But Living Well Is Not

Luna's words hit Charles hard, leaving him speechless. He always thought only old folks who collected trash would eat other people's leftovers, like scraping the cream off cake boxes.

"Alright." Luna paused and showed Charles the sweater she was working on. The hole was barely noticeable unless one really looked for it.

"I'm heading to bed. Good night." Luna waved at Charles, holding the sweater.

"Luna," Charles suddenly called out.

"Yeah?" Luna turned around, looking puzzled.

"How's that classmate of yours doing now?" Charles wasn't just curious about what happened next; he wanted to understand Luna's world, a world he had never known.

Luna's voice was steady. "She stayed at the school after graduation. Her job and income are stable, but she hasn't dated anyone. Her parents are greedy. They want her to support her brother and get married in her hometown. They want to marry her off to a man in his forties who's an alcoholic and prone to domestic violence. If she refuses, they cause trouble at her workplace because they know how much she values her job."

"So, no happy ending for her yet. She's still holding on, refusing to compromise. But I know she won't give in, even if she quits her job," Luna said.

Luna didn't bring Charles a story with a perfect ending. That classmate might have to go through tough times before things got better..

‘Sure, there are Cinderella stories where someone becomes a powerful CEO or a wealthy heiress, but most people have to endure a lot before they can catch a break. Sometimes, just when you think you're out of the woods, new challenges pop up. Life is easy, living is easy, but living well is not,’ Luna thought. But for Luna, she was content and grateful. She had more than many people.

"Mr. Lee, life is unpredictable, and seizing the moment is what I should do now." With that, Luna went back to her room.

Charles sat alone in the living room for a long time, deeply moved by Luna's words that evening. From the beginning, he had approached her with a condescending tone and attitude.

But she didn't know his true identity. She was neither humble nor arrogant, with her own persistence and passion, which he had once looked down upon.

From the start, he had been insincere about living together with her, but Luna was much more genuine than he was. Thinking of Luna, Charles's eyes grew softer and clearer.

Ethan had a rough day at the company. All the projects he handled were given to other colleagues, and the female colleagues avoided him like he was a creep, staying far away from him.

Several female colleagues used to joke with him and even offered to get him water. Now, they all acted aloof and ignored him.

He had a good chance of getting promoted this time, and he had prepared everything. But the boss just talked to him and told him to wait for the next round. Ethan was desperate now.

Leaving the office, Ethan didn't want to take the company shuttle because everyone would look at him and whisper. He was so proud; he couldn't stand it. So, he had been taking the bus home lately.

Before Ethan reached the bus stop, a figure suddenly rushed out from the side, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him to the roadside.
