Chapter 50 Victim of Domestic Violence

Warren was irritatede at Paul's words. How could someone be so unreasonable!

"Mr. Scott, I left the document on my desk! How dare you call it trash? It's got coffee stains on it! You must've knocked over the coffee cup and soaked it. And you're too chicken to admit it, so you just threw it away! You could've at least told me!"

Warren was waiting to hand in the document. But now that it was wet, he had to prepare it all over again.

"So, are you going to arrest me?" Paul said, making Warren laugh in exasperation.

Joah stood by with a stern expression.

"Hey, we're all on the same side here. Let's chill out and talk this through. Mr. Scott, you messed up. We got cameras here, so we can see if you spilled the coffee! Warren, calm down."

After Joah finished speaking, Paul waved his hand, grabbed his coat, and left without a word.

Joah knew it was impossible to expect Paul to apologize to Warren.

"Warren, don't let this affect your work. I'll talk to him separately."

Joah comforted Warren, and Luna handed him his coat.

Warren felt much calmer now, but he was still puzzled.

"Luna, do you think I might have offended Paul before?"

Luna shook her head and said, "We're all the same! He's not much nicer to me either. But I looked into his records, which were brilliant ."

Warren knew this too, which made it even harder to understand what had happened to turn a former elite into such a disagreeable person.

After returning to the STF, Luna spent the day busy at the case reception.

People came in with all sorts of trivial matters. One woman came in crying, saying her son was missing, only to reveal after questioning that her "son" was actually her pet dog.

Another person had lost their keys down a sewer and wanted to file a complaint against the water department, demanding compensation for emotional distress and lost wages.

There was even a case of a runaway kid who, wanting to report his parents for spanking him, sought to sever all ties with them.

Busy until the end of the shift, Luna finished the handover, just about to catch her breath, when Summer's call came in."

"Luna, something happened to Emily!"

"What?" Luna's fingers turned white as she gripped the phone.

Emily and Summer were her best friends.

Summer was a contradiction: distant and aloof, yet radiating a hidden warmth that was as enticing as it was inaccessible.

Emily, on the other hand, was a force to be reckoned with: stubborn, a tad rebellious, and fiercely independent. She had defied her family's wishes.

"She's been abused! Damn Bobby! I want to tear him apart!"

Hearing the word 'abuse', Luna's face darkened.

"How is she now? Let's go see her."

Luna said as she walked out.

"She's at home. I'm almost at your place. I'll pick you up."

"Okay, I'll wait for you."

Luna changed her clothes and went to wait for Summer on the street next to the police station.

Suddenly, she heard a loud bang from the front. A black sedan had reversed and crashed hard into a silver sports car behind it.

The hood of the sports car was dented.

The driver of the black car got out. Instead of apologizing, he banged on the sports car's window.

"How are you driving? Didn't you see the crash?"

The black car driver was fierce, and several burly men got out from the passenger and back seats.

The sports car driver was a petite girl who didn't dare to get out. She could only roll down her window.

"I was parked here and didn't move. You actually reversed into me." Evelyn Nelson said softly.

"That's a dangerous way to drive! Are you blind? You think you're hot stuff in your fancy car? Must be nice to have someone buy it for you!?"
