Chapter 100 We Are Meant to Be

Those were the only two Adeline didn't hit.

Carlos shivered at her words. How did she know he did it for them?

Adeline's tone was casual. "You take jobs anyway, whether it's mine or someone else's. Why not work for me? At least it's legal."

Carlos had done all sorts of jobs, from catching cheating husbands to intimidating mistresses, and even dealing with mothers-in-law.

There were also the shadier ones, like forcing elderly folks out of their homes for their daughters-in-law.

Usually, regular people would be scared of them. Even if they weren't scared, people wouldn't think of them as good people.

Carlos said in a low voice, "We don't do anything too extreme."

"I'm just a doctor. I wouldn't ask you to do anything crazy." Adeline's thin lips curved slightly.

Carlos still didn't buy it and was about to speak.

Adeline cut him off calmly, "The one with the limp was injured in a car accident. It hurts when it rains, and the injury is recent."

At this point, not only Carlos but even Chase widened his eyes. "How do you know that?"

"Is that hard?" Adeline said. "Doctors can feel bones, just to different extents."

Carlos got a bit excited, his voice trembling. "Can you heal his leg? We'll pay whatever it takes!"

"Carlos, no need. I..." Luis Lee walked over. They could see him clearly under the streetlight. He had a delicate and youthful face; the short white hair stood out and was pressed down by a baseball cap. He looked no older than fifteen.

Carlos scolded him, "Shut up!"

Luis lowered his eyes. "We don't have any money left, and it doesn't hurt that much."

Carlos smiled. "Don't worry about him. You tell me how to treat it, and I'll arrange it."

Adeline looked over, her tone indifferent. "Are you relatives?"

Carlos scratched the back of his head. "Yeah."

Adeline stepped closer, her gaze lowering. "Relative you picked up from the trash heap half a year ago?"

Luis's eyes showed caution. "Let's go. I don't need treatment."

Carlos held him back and smiled apologetically at Adeline. "The kid doesn't know any better; don't mind him."

Adeline's smile was faint. "I have one at home too. I picked him up from the trash heap."

Luis suddenly looked up, his face showing hesitation.

Adeline spoke unhurriedly, "Healing his leg isn't difficult. Work for me in the future, and I'll pay you regularly. I don't care where you go or what you do. As long as it doesn't harm others, you can do whatever you want."

"There's a salary!" Chase's eyes lit up.

Carlos also looked hopeful. "Can you really heal Luis's leg?"

"So far, there's no illness I can't cure," Adeline spoke lazily, her gaze falling on the red mole between Luis's eyebrows. She suddenly smiled, her face extremely beautiful. "Besides, he and I are fated."

Hearing this, Charles, who had been silent all along, lifted his eyelids slightly and looked over with cold eyes.

Carlos was naturally willing and happily agreed. "As long as you can heal Luis's leg, we'll do whatever you say!"

"Give me your phone." Adeline lifted her chin.

Carlos complied, not knowing what she was going to do.

Adeline directly scanned a code, her movements crisp and efficient. "We'll meet at the Lumina Vitae Foundation tomorrow at ten in the morning."
