Chapter 171 I Want to Drop Out
In an instant, her eyes turned cold, with a faint hint of bloodlust, as if she had reverted to her previous state.
There was a clear hostility between her brows.
She couldn't act out in front of Summer again; it would worry her.
She had to restrain herself. Adeline clenched her right hand hanging by her side, her teeth crushing the candy.
Everyone had their pride.
No one wanted to be treated so poorly.
But now, to secure her future in school, Summer had been dragging her leg the whole time, bowing and smiling apologetically. Was that not enough? Did she still have to be humiliated?
Adeline couldn't describe how she felt inside. She just paced over, reaching out to straighten Summer's back.
Summer instinctively turned her head. Seeing Adeline, her eyes showed hesitation. She didn't want Adeline to come, after all, manic was different from other illnesses.
The cause was unknown, and there were no signs before an episode.
Summer was worried she might get triggered again.
But Adeline still came.
Whitney, who caused all this, was still typing on her computer, complaining to her friend about how ridiculous parents were these days. She didn't even bother to look up, coldly mocking, "Do I need to say it again? This is the situation. If you can't afford it, don't have kids. You send your child to school but don't even understand basic social etiquette. Take some time to learn from Mr. Martinez. With Adeline's situation, if you don't spend some money, no school would really want her."
The more Adeline listened, the colder her eyes became. An unprecedented hostility appeared on her face, accentuated by the curve of her lips, making her look like a returning avenger. "How old are you? 25? 26? Just an intern?"
"What does that have to do with you?" Whitney finally realized Adeline was there and stood up reluctantly. "Since you're here, take her and leave. I have work to do."
Adeline turned slightly, her fingers tapping lightly on her desk, one tap after another. "Is your job to slander my grandmother's character?"
"You!" Whitney turned her computer away. "Who gave you permission to look at my computer?"
Adeline looked at her, her thin lips curving slightly. "As an educator, you don't take it as your duty to nurture but instead rank parents based on their financial status, openly hinting at bribery. Do you not want to be a teacher anymore?"
Whitney's heart skipped a beat at Adeline's words, but she refused to admit it. "When did I ever hint at bribery? Do you have any evidence? You're just saying that! If you don't want to attend this school, just say so!"
Summer, a bit worried, tugged at Adeline's sleeve. "Adeline."
Adeline signaled her to stay calm, her gaze lowering as she faced Whitney. "If I want evidence, I can get it. But you, accusing me of cheating, do you have any evidence?"
"What evidence do I need? How could someone who didn't even finish school possibly know anything about medical first aid, let alone get a perfect score? No one would believe it." Whitney's tone was disdainful. "Adeline, listen to me. Even if Summer begs me, it won't work. For a poor student like you, go wherever you want. Our school won't take you!"
Adeline smiled. "You said that."
"Yes, I said it!" Whitney crossed her arms, looking defiant.
Adeline's smile deepened. "That's perfect. I don't want to attend this school either. I quit."
"No! Don't quit!"
Suddenly, the wooden door was slammed open.
