Chapter 121 Her Boyfriend

Jason's face was obviously grim.

The reporters were caught off guard, and everyone else felt a bit awkward too, especially the Mitchell Family members with him. They were always the big shots in Eldoria, with Harold always catching the spotlight at public events.

But today, this Jason showed up and immediately gave the Mitchell Family a hard time.

But no one could blame him. He was the second-in-command at Aetheris Group, a guy the whole city has to bow down to.

The Mitchell Family could only suck it up!

Over in Chrysanthemum Alley, Vanessa saw the whole thing on TV and burst out laughing. "Here comes another big shot. No wonder Elijah's grinning like a fool."

Adeline hung up the phone, looking a bit surprised. "Vanessa, you know the Mitchell Family?"

"Not really. I'm tight with your grandma," Vanessa grumbled. "That family's got no heart. But didn't you have an engagement with Harold?"

Adeline remembered her very public engagement breakup. "It's over."

"Over?" Vanessa jumped up. "The Mitchell Family really are jerks! They're just bullying you because your grandma's state. No way, I'm getting justice for you!"

Adeline held her back, half amused, half exasperated. "Vanessa, I really don't care about Harold."

Vanessa was skeptical. "You don't care? Didn't you want to marry him back in middle school? You even said he saved you."

Adeline replied calmly, "I was a dumb teenager. I've moved on."

"Have you really moved on, or are you just worried about me?" Summer had just finished with a patient and was in a good mood. But hearing that Adeline had been dumped made her feel guilty. "Is it because of me that the Mitchell Family doesn't want to go through with it?"

Adeline stepped forward to support Summer. "Grandma, you're overthinking it. They just doesn't care about me; it's got nothing to do with you."

Summer got even angrier. "What makes them think they can look down on you?"

Adeline helped her sit down and tried to explain, "Maybe it's because of my family background?"

Summer touched her face. "In the end, it's because I haven't done enough. Don't worry; if I step in, the Mitchell Family will have to acknowledge it. You and Harold still have a chance."

"Grandma, listen to me." Adeline saw Summer's eyes getting red and knew she needed a good reason, or Summer would blame herself forever. So she raised an eyebrow. "I was a bit down before, but I got better after I got a boyfriend."

Summer's attention shifted immediately. "A boyfriend?"

Vanessa also chimed in, "Is it that handsome friend of yours?"

"Him? That's awesome! He's good, just a bit frail, but he's steady and handsome," Summer said, looking up to ask, "Adeline, is it him?"

Adeline hesitated, trying to keep up with their conversation. "Well..."

Summer lowered her eyes. "I knew you were lying to me."

Adeline thought, 'Well, I guess it has to be him now!'

Adeline chuckled, her eyes sparkling. "Yes, it's him."

Summer beamed. "Really?"

Adeline wiped Summer's hands. "When have I ever lied to you?"

Summer laughed even more happily. "I knew you treated him differently. So, he's your boyfriend."

Adeline found it hard to explain that it was because Charles paid well.

Summer asked again, "Then why hasn't he come around lately? You two just started dating; shouldn't you be together every day?"
