Chapter 111 Multiple Seductions
Adeline locked eyes with her. "Hey, why don't you take Hope to the restroom first? Skip the bath for now. Then we can chat."
Brianna's eyes went wide, and her hands holding Hope started to shake a bit.
A minute later, she was back in front of the camera, eyes red but holding it together.
"Hope, sweetie, why don't you go play with that puzzle over there? I need to talk to her for a sec."
Brianna tried to smile at Hope, but it didn't quite reach her eyes.
Adeline chimed in, "I think it's better if Hope stays here. She's more sensitive than other kids. You'll have a lot to handle, and keeping her out of it might make her more anxious."
Brianna looked down at Hope.
Hope wiped Brianna's face with her little hand. "Mommy, I want to stay."
Brianna hugged her tight, tears streaming down. "It's my fault."
Hope looked puzzled.
Adeline spoke up, "Ms. Ramsey, I think you know who did this."
Brianna's eyes filled with anger. "I know; it's him!"
No one else had the chance to get close to Hope.
She thought she could give Hope a complete family. So she dated him.
Brianna's fingers clenched tightly. "I won't let him get away with this!"
Hope shrank back. "Mommy?"
Adeline stayed calm. "Hope, don't be scared. Your Mommy and I are going to fight the bad guy."
Hope's eyes lit up. "I want to fight the bad guy too!"
Adeline smiled. "Hope, you've already been super brave by telling us. Because of you, we can catch the bad guy and make sure he doesn't hurt other kids."
Hope finally smiled. "So I did the right thing, and Mommy isn't mad at me!"
Brianna, still crying, kissed Hope. "How could I be mad at you? I love you."
Adeline watched, staying calm. "Listen carefully to what I'm about to say, and don't mess up the steps."
Brianna straightened up. "I'm listening."
Now, she felt grateful and respectful towards Adeline.
Adeline's voice was firm. "First, call the police. Then, have them take you and Hope to the forensic department to collect evidence. This needs to be done within two hours."
Brianna nodded.
Adeline glanced around the room. "If you have any of his clothes in your closet, check for his hair on them and bring them for testing."
Brianna's voice was shaky. "Got it."
Adeline stayed composed. "Don't do anything rash before the results come out. Once they do, proceed with a criminal case. Remember, it's a criminal case, not a civil lawsuit."
Brianna hugged Hope tighter. "I'll do what you say."
Adeline softened her tone. "I'll make a copy of my conversation with Hope for you to avoid repetitive questioning that could harm her. After collecting the evidence, take Hope to the hospital right away. Besides physical injuries, she needs a psychologist. I suspect it's happened multiple times."
"Multiple?" Brianna staggered, struggling to accept it.
Adeline suddenly asked, "Is it tough raising a child alone?"
Brianna looked up at Adeline.
Adeline gave a faint smile. "You have heavy dark circles. Hang in there. You need to protect Hope and take care of yourself too."
Suddenly, Brianna felt a bit more energized, less panicked. "I will."
Adeline checked her watch. "Go ahead. I see you're in Eldoria. If you run into any trouble, you can come to me. I'm at the Lumina Vitae Foundation."
