Chapter 68 The Arrest Operation
Everyone was still all starry-eyed over the Cooper family when the door to the inner hall got kicked open!
Cops stormed in like they were on some secret mission, slamming Sara and Matthew to the ground!
They moved so fast, it was like watching a SWAT team in a movie.
Matthew was yelling, "Who the hell are you? How dare you..."
The head cop flashed his badge. "Special Operations Unit!"
Special Operations Unit? What the heck?
Everyone was floored!
Why would the Special Ops be here?
Nicholas just raised an eyebrow, staying cool and watching everything go down.
Adeline didn't budge. She was chilling in the shadows, munching on a fruit candy, looking all innocent with her backpack.
Matthew tried to get up. "I don't care who you are; do you know who backs the Cooper family?"
The cops shoved him back down, hard!
Sara's face went ghostly white. She threw her hands up, "It's a misunderstanding! I have Mr. Bell's number; our family..."
The cop cut her off. "The mayor, Walter Bell, already confessed. You Coopers have been treating human life like trash, selling organs, taking bribes, doing surgeries on people who didn't need 'em! Plus, academic fraud, framing colleagues, scamming students! You're lucky we didn't nab you sooner! Take 'em away!"
"He confessed?" Sara was stunned, then she lost it, crawling on the ground, hair all over the place, screaming like a banshee. "No, I don't believe it!"
She looked nothing like her usual high-and-mighty self.
Matthew was so scared he wet his pants. "Sara! What do we do? They're serious!"
Everyone else was just standing there, jaws on the floor.
The head cop didn't even want to look at them anymore, just waved his hand, face like stone.
Sara and the rest of the Coopers got dragged out.
Even Stella, who was just standing there, got hauled out too.
If Harold hadn't explained things, Stella would've been taken in for questioning!
The whole vibe in the manor flipped!
No one cared about consultations anymore; everyone was freaking out.
Elijah, scared he'd get caught up in it, kept shaking his head when the cops questioned him.
The Cooper family's dirty laundry was like a bomb going off, shaking the whole medical world.
Especially the big four families, they were too scared to even breathe.
Some regular doctors were whispering.
"Did the Coopers really do unnecessary surgeries just for cash?"
"Maybe it's a mix-up?"
"No mix-up; check your phones!"
Someone had posted a video, and in ten minutes, it was all over Eldoria.
Malls were playing it, hospitals were playing it, even the manor's inner hall got hacked and the video was up on the wall!
In the video, an old man was crying. "Ms. Cooper, a million bucks for the surgery is too much; we can't afford it."
Then the camera panned to Sara, who didn't even look up. "If you can't afford it, go home and wait to die. Why are you crying to me? What's more important, money or life?"
The old man wiped his tears. "Ms. Cooper, isn't there any other way? Is surgery the only option?"
