Chapter 216 Emotions Heat Up

Adeline could hear faint sounds from the other side.

It was like being separated by a layer of mist, cold and oppressive.

The person talking to him seemed extremely respectful, with a hint of fear in their voice.

"Yes."

By the time she realized it, the call had switched from audio to video.

He called her suddenly, and she didn't refuse.

Soon, Charles appeared on the other side.

He was wearing in black suit with his long legs half-crossed, looking like he had just finished a meeting, sitting in a boss chair, his tie half-loosened. When the video connected, he lifted his gaze, revealing an extraordinarily handsome face.

"What do you want to ask?" He turned slightly, his voice carrying a lazy charm that made people want to listen again and again.

Adeline sighed once more at how beauty could be misleading before meeting his gaze.

He, however, looked away, gentlemanly yet aloof. "Your clothes."

His voice carried an unusual huskiness.

Clothes? Adeline looked down at her white T-shirt, realizing that after taking a shower, the T-shirt was slightly see-through and clung to her collarbone, making it somewhat inappropriate for a video call.

She raised an eyebrow, draped a towel over herself, and put on a bathrobe.

During this process, Charles kept his gaze down, fiddling with his bracelet, as if nothing she did could affect him.

However, his hand fiddling with the bracelet was noticeably more hurried.

His eyes were also deep and unreadable.

"Done." Adeline nonchalantly tapped her phone.

Only then did Charles return his gaze to her. Seeing her current appearance, his eyes paused for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "Okay."

His slightly husky voice seemed to come from deep in his throat.

This made Adeline suspicious. "Have you not been resting well again? Is your cough getting worse?"

Charles suddenly laughed. "Only you would think it's because of a cough."

"What?" Adeline didn't hear clearly and turned up the phone's volume.

Charles looked at her, his throat indeed a bit itchy, and a light cough came through.

Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Remember to take your medicine."

"Got it." Charles's voice carried a hint of helplessness.

Adeline was always straightforward, asking directly, "Did you ask the Livingston Group to help me?"

Charles didn't deny it. "Yes."

Adeline tapped her fingers on the table, a clear and elegant smile on her face. "How close are you with Mr. Livingston?"

"Why?" Charles responded with a question.

Adeline's tear mole was prominent. "It seems like he does everything for you. Does he owe the Vanderbilt Family a favor?"

"Yes," Charles answered the latter part. "He does owe a favor."

Adeline propped her chin with one hand. "Then ask him to remove the Guardian Angel status for me."

Charles paused, pretending not to understand. "Guardian Angel?"

Adeline thought he didn't know what it was and explained, "It's a badge that appears in my livestream when someone tips a lot. It doesn't really match my aesthetic."

Charles chuckled deeply. "Why not ask the platform to handle it?"

Adeline rarely showed emotion, her face half-puffed, looking both beautiful and proud. "The platform keeps giving me automated responses, and the moderators haven't dealt with it. Probably because he tipped so much, the moderators are afraid of offending a big client."
