Chapter 57 An Illusion Occurred
The man who walked in looked fashion and handsome, rocking a red headphone around his neck. He looked more like a rapper than a doctor.
He flopped down next to Adeline, grumbling, "Grandpa told me to babysit his old friend's granddaughter. Do I look like a babysitter to you?"
As he spoke, he gave Adeline a once-over with those sharp eyes of his. "You are really bold, willing to claim any background."
Adeline stared at him for a bit, her eyes saying more than words. "Oliver?"
Oliver's eyes went wide. 'Hold up. Why does she say my name like my boss, the "Miracle Doctor"? Nah, must be my imagination!'
He checked his phone. The "Miracle Doctor" had turned down the seminar invite, so no way she was here.
He thought, 'Yeah, right. How could the "Miracle Doctor" be some girl younger than me? I must be losing it from all the late-night reading!'
Oliver shook his head and shushed Adeline. "Keep it down. Summer should've told you not to mention her. Just stick with me and see how the big shots do their thing."
Adeline just looked at him, cool as a cucumber.
Oliver didn't catch the hint in her gaze.
Two other teens came over.
"Mr. Taylor, who's this?" asked Oscar Carter from the Carter Family.
Oliver shrugged. "Just a friend."
Oscar checked out Adeline. "She's pretty cute."
Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Thanks."
Another teen nudged Oscar aside and said to Adeline, "Hey, I'm Steven Mitchell. What's your zodiac sign? You into bars or libraries? I'm down for either."
"Both of you, back off!" Oliver grabbed them. "Keep it low-key! Can't you see everyone's watching us?"
Oscar didn't care. "So what? I can't even tell any medicine. No clue why my grandpa dragged me here."
Steven chimed in, "Yeah, this is so dull."
Adeline had heard about these three before—bar-hopping, street-racing, good-for-nothings. They were the laughingstock of the medical world.
Seeing them in person, she was surprised by their honesty. It was rare to see people so openly admit they were useless.
Stella noticed the ruckus and whispered to Sara, "Ms. Cooper, looks like Oscar, Oliver, and Steven are tight with Adeline and wanna help her out."
Sara patted Stella's hand and pointed out, "The real big shots in the Carter and Mitchell families are sitting with us. See David over there sipping tea? He's a cardiologist. And the most handsome Mitchell, Harold Mitchell, I heard he likes you."
Stella blushed. "Ms. Cooper, stop teasing. Harold and I are just classmates."
"If he only saw you as a classmate, would he be watching you since you walked in?" Sara said knowingly. "I know you have many admirers. As for the Taylor Family... forget it!"
In the hospital, the Taylor Family had Adeline's back.
The Taylor family was thrilled when the Zephyrox Alliance kicked out the Cooper family.
The Zephyrox Alliance might be strong, but Sara had the Whispering Fern. Others knew how to roll with the punches.
Look at the Taylor Family, reduced to hanging out with Summer's students. How embarrassing!
The so-called disgraceful Oliver was busy filling out forms, a pen in his mouth, when he asked Adeline, "What's your code name? The four of us are a team, and I'll report it to the Livingston family."
Adeline propped her face with one hand, ready to spill the beans about who she really was.
