Chapter 18 Daydreaming

Despite wanting to call the Martinez Family a bunch of idiots, Sara bit her tongue. No way was she gonna spill the beans about the Cooper family being on the edge of a meltdown in front of everyone.

Now she had to appease those smaller families , making sure those clueless still backed her up, keeping the Cooper family looking good to the outside world.

Sara said, "Yeah, you're right. The Cooper family's been killing it in the medical field for years."

Henry, being the sharp businessman he was, felt something was off but couldn't quite put his finger on it. The Cooper family was still seen as the top dogs in the medical game around here.

Angela, on the other hand, was worried about Stella's career and kept buttering up Sara. "Of course! Ms. Cooper's snagged so many awards overseas. Now that she's back, no way she's getting played by those clueless folks."

The award Sara won for targeted drug analysis abroad was from the Zephyrox Alliance, but she wasn't about to spill that tea.

She just sighed and played it cool. "Angela, let's not make a big deal out of it. The Cooper family has its flaws too. Like, we didn't have this drug called Whispering Fern to treat Mr. Livingston. Otherwise, we wouldn't need to lean on other families."

'Whispering Fern?' Stella kinda remembered that.

She casually mentioned, "Dad, I remember Grandma had a bunch of medicines and a medical book."

Seeing Stella so in the know, Sara was surprised and asked, "Henry, does the Martinez Family still have those?"

Henry, looking a bit awkward, said, "Those are just my Mom's old junk, nothing special."

Angela sneered, "If they're nothing special, why did she treasure them so much?"

Sara knew the real deal but couldn't just come out and ask for it. Given her status, the Martinez Family should just hand over all their goodies.

Sara said flatly, "Forget it; the Cooper family won't twist anyone's arm. Even if this invite to treat the Livingston family might not..."

Hearing about the Livingston family's invite, Angela jumped in, "Ms. Cooper, you're Stella's mentor now, and we're all family. We'll definitely give you the Whispering Fern and the medical book. Right, Henry?"

Henry, making up his mind, said, "Yeah, that's right. I'll send someone to my Mom's place to grab them tonight!"

Sara lit up. "Awesome. I'll bring Stella along to the Livingston family's consultation next week. Stella's so gorgeous; she might even catch Mr. Livingston's eye."

Hearing this, Henry went nuts, laser-focused on getting Summer Martinez's Whispering Fern ASAP, even Summer was his mom.

He always got what he wanted!

Angela was over the moon, already picturing Stella married to Charles and herself as part of the Livingston family.

In that case, who'd dare bring up her past as a mistress? She'd live the rest of her life as the mother-in-law of the Livingston family's head honcho.

Stella blushed, her face glowing, but she also felt a spark of ambition. "I'll do my best."

Charles, head of the Zelphoria family, was loaded—who wouldn't want to marry him?

But the Martinez Family was just dreaming.

Sara, who never did anything without a payoff, was clearly just testing them. It was all about getting the Martinez Family's Whispering Fern.

The Martinez Family had definitely picked the wrong person to suck up to and were aiming way too high.

The sun was slowly dipping below the horizon.

Adeline was busy with consultations in the community square, totally unaware that someone had their eyes on Summer's house, Lumina Vitae Foundation. She gave the elderly man her final piece of advice, "From now on, cut down on salty foods and eat more fruits and veggies. If anyone suggests surgery again, don't buy it."

"Can I go home now?" the elderly man asked, unsure. "Do I need to keep taking meds?"

Adeline replied, "No need."

The weight on his heart finally lifted, and tears welled up in his eyes. He hadn't expected that the illness he'd been struggling with for so long was a scam from start to finish!

The Cooper family was despicable!

The elderly man didn't know that the Cooper family had already paid the price for their actions. At this moment, he felt only gratitude. After repeatedly thanking Adeline, he reluctantly left.

Adeline, after handling the last patient, stretched and then packed up her gear to head home and rest!

At that moment, Nathan, who had been watching from the sidelines, hurriedly stopped her!

They finally met!

"Ms. Vanderbilt! I finally found you!" Nathan's accent had that distinct Zelphoria twang, and he was so excited that even his belly jiggled a bit.
