Chapter 151 I Am Happy

Matteo wasn't dumb. Realizing he was being played, he puffed out his cheeks and said, "He's good to us too!"

"Really?" Adeline's eyes narrowed a bit.

What a shame, she thought she could get some juicy info, but turned out, even though he talked a lot, he was quick on his feet.

Matteo nodded seriously. "He's flawless!"

"That's not what you said earlier. You said I'd be the one getting hurt," Adeline said casually.

Matteo felt a chill down his spine. "I was just talking nonsense. I see he's really into you. He definitely won't let you down. Even if your family backgrounds are different, it doesn't matter!"

Adeline smiled faintly. "Too bad, we are just pretending. How did you figure he's serious about me?"

Matteo jumped up again. "Pretending?"

"Keep your voice down." Adeline frowned, glanced at the yard. Seeing everything was normal, she tied her long hair and looked up at the medicine cabinet. "Yeah, so don't go blabbing to others."

Matteo was puzzled. "Why pretend?"

"For my grandma's wish." Adeline quickly grabbed the medicine, not even bothering to measure it.

Matteo was still lost in thought.

Even if Adeline's medical skills were top-notch and she could cure Charles, he wouldn't go as far as to offer himself.

What kind of reason could make Charles willingly play this act with Adeline?

Could it be because Nicholas had been pushing for marriage too hard lately?

Matteo's eyes lit up. That must be it!

Summer couldn't hear the commotion over there.

She was very hospitable. Even though Charles seemed to come from a wealthy family, she kept her cool, neither rushed nor impatient. "Have some tea first."

"Alright." Charles's manners were always on point, ingrained in him. He didn't let Summer pour the tea. From the moment he sat down, he was washing the tea and preparing the cups, his movements smooth. "The tea's still hot; take your time."

Summer didn't pick up the cup, just watched him without blinking. "Adeline has always kept things to herself. She was always alone in school. Adeline would never compromise her principles for money."

"I know her character." Charles's eyes seemed to reflect the light from the teacup. "If it's hers, she wants it. If it's not, she won't even look at it."

Hearing this, Summer softened her stance. "When I first heard about you two, I didn't approve. Your family backgrounds are too different."

"I..." Charles said.

Summer raised her hand to stop him. "No need to rush to refute me. I know your demeanor takes generations to cultivate, not just because you were raised in a wealthy family. From a personal standpoint, you're great, but I know Adeline's temperament. She won't compromise even a little. What will happen when she marries into your family?"

Summer smiled again. "I'm not pressuring you for any guarantees. Since she introduced you, it means she likes you. Actually, I'm happy. Otherwise, I really couldn't imagine how she would move on. After all, she always used to tell me, 'Grandma, when I grow up, I must marry Harold."

Hearing this, Charles's hand suddenly froze in mid-air.
