Chapter 191 Fabricated Testimony
The Starhaven District police station could really pull off something like this.
Of course, they wouldn't dare mess with big cases.
But for small cases like Adeline's, they could either make more money or settle it quietly.
See, the interrogator from earlier was gone.
A different officer came in, ignoring the other two, and said to Adeline, "Even as a streamer, you have to follow the law. Have you ever seen a famous doctor treating patients online? Here in Eldoria, the Mitchell Family has top-notch medical skills, but even they wouldn't treat human lives so carelessly like you!"
Adeline looked up, her eyes cold. "Big hospitals, like military hospitals, have long offered online consultations with specialists from various departments to save people nationwide from unnecessary travel expenses. The Mitchell Family not offering this service just shows they're all talk. I have all the necessary licenses to be a streamer, including a witch doctor certificate, which complies with regulations and common sense." Adeline's tone was icy as she looked at him. "But you, on what grounds are you illegally arresting people?"
The officer scoffed. "You sure know how to talk."
With that, he ignored Adeline and brought in the middle-aged woman from outside.
"Is she the one who used the medicine that harmed your grandson?"
At this point, he deliberately turned on the surveillance camera.
The middle-aged woman immediately said, "It's her! She's so cruel. My grandson only had a minor cold. After he took the medcine she prescribed, now he's vomiting and can't wake up."
"Alright, I understand the situation." He took out a pre-prepared statement. "Sign here, and once you do, you can leave."
This whole process was so smooth.
Even Daniel and Jesse were furious. "You're forging a statement!"
Signing the real statement would mean Adeline "killed someone," and their assault on the police would be confirmed. This was truly malicious!
"Shut up!" He slammed the table, looking at them with a sinister expression. "Did I tell you to speak?"
Jesse told himself to stay calm; arguing now would be useless.
It didn't matter who was interrogating; the problem was with the leadership.
The officer turned and left to prepare a second statement.
As he walked out, he said to his colleague, "You were too slow earlier. Mr. Sullivan is pushing for the statement. Learn to be quicker, got it?"
That colleague was none other than the officer who had just interrogated Adeline and the others.
He had checked into Adeline's claims and found not only issues with the arrest process but also that the middle-aged woman inside had a criminal record and was paid to act.
He couldn't say it outright, so he brought in a cup of water.
"I advise you to give in," the interrogator whispered. "Things aren't as simple as you think. If your family has connections, contact them quickly and get bailed out."
Daniel felt a tightness in his chest. "We did nothing wrong; why should we get bailed out!"
"Nothing wrong?" The officer came back in, pointing to the other officer outside. "You beat up a cop, and you say you did nothing wrong?"
Adeline said calmly, "I was the one who hit him; it has nothing to do with them."
He didn't even look up. "Then contact your family. We also act based on the situation."
His hint was clear enough: money could solve everything.
