Chapter 72 Do You Remember

"The other party's super sneaky, always switching up their virtual IP addresses. Every time they pop up, it's from a different spot. The only thing we managed to nail down is Eldoria, and it took our tech team three days to crack that."

Brandon frowned. "And the other one? No matter how hard we dig, we can't find squat."

It was pretty rare to run into someone who left the unit totally stumped.

Last time this happened was three years ago.

Charles pulled his gaze back, his voice low and sluggish. "Why not switch gears and start with the Cooper family's enemies?"

"The Cooper family's enemies?" Brandon caught on quick. "Mr. Livingston, you think this is personal?"

Charles stood there, eyes downcast. "So far, no group's claimed responsibility for this. Acting like a whistleblower doesn't seem like some random do-gooder move."

"True." Brandon thought for a moment and called over another officer. "Check out the Cooper family's social circle, especially anyone they've had beef with recently."

"Got it."

Charles's voice was calm. "Actually, you don't need to worry."

"What?" Brandon looked confused.

Charles put on his bracelet, looking sharp and elegant. "It's not over yet. Given the whistleblower's style, they'll show up again."

Brandon thought, 'Show up again?'

His heart skipped a beat, feeling a weird sense of unease.

After the unit left, the glass room door swung open.

Nicholas showed up at the door. "I knew you were mixed up in this."

"Nothing gets past you." Charles walked over to help Nicholas, chuckling softly.

Nicholas glared at him. "Cut the crap. Who do you think I set up this seminar for?"

"For me," Charles replied with a grin, signaling the bodyguard.

The bodyguard got the hint and backed off.

Nicholas pouted. "Alright, enough with the jokes. You know your health isn't great. If helping me is too much, don't do it."

"I've been feeling better these past couple of days," Charles, always sensitive to the cold, coughed lightly as he spoke.

The itch in his throat reminded him of the medicinal soup Adeline had given him, which was cool and refreshing. He figured he needed to swing by the clinic soon.

He hadn't been there in three days. He wondered if Adeline still remembered him as a patient.

Nicholas had no clue what Charles was thinking, his tone full of regret. "That Whispering Fern was such a gem, and you just gave it up."

"Didn't you plan to give it up too?" Charles helped Nicholas sit down. "It's just a Whispering Fern, no biggie."

Nicholas sighed. "That Cooper family is really no good."

Charles poured Nicholas a cup of tea. "Yeah."

Nicholas looked at him. "They deserve it. Don't help the unit catch the whistleblower."

Charles stirred the tea with his finger. "Grandpa, I have no such plans."

Nicholas scoffed. "No such plans? You installed so many cameras in the inner hall. Do you think I'm blind?"

Charles lowered his eyes. "Just out of curiosity."

Nicholas didn't buy it. "I don't care what you're up to. The most important thing now is your health! Look at you, using a seminar to catch people, scaring those famous doctors pale. Who's gonna dare treat you in the future?"

"All scared?" Charles's mind flashed to Adeline's silhouette, and he couldn't help but smile a bit. "Not necessarily."
