Chapter 90 Stay for Dinner

Adeline totally missed Patrick's hint and just gave a little smile. "I'm just passing on what I heard."

'At least you know it's just gossip!' Patrick thought, wiping his brow.

Adeline kept going, "But rich folks love to party. So maybe it's ture."

'You really didn't need to say that!' Patrick felt drained and avoided looking at Charles.

Charles just sat there, dressed in a black suit and pants, with a cold, dangerous glint in his eyes.

Adeline finally straightened up and poured Charles a cup of tea. "I' m kidding. But medically speaking, not letting people get close could be due to some allergy."

Patrick was floored! She hadn't even met Charles but could guess his condition from rumors. Her words might be unreliable, but her medical skills were spot on!

Hearing this, Charles looked at Adeline, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Mr. Livingston does feel uncomfortable when touched by anyone outside his family, and in severe cases, he breaks out in a rash."

"You know about this?" Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Seems like you and him are pretty close."

Charles unwrapped a lozenge and popped it in his mouth, his movements smooth and refined. "Didn't you say we're all in the same circle? It's no secret."

"True." Adeline smiled, clearly not wanting to talk about the Livingston family anymore.

Charles lowered his eyes, his handsome face partially hidden in the shadows. "Is there no chance at all?"

Adeline thought she misheard. "What?"

Charles's voice was soft. "To treat Mr. Livingston."

Adeline thought for a moment and said, "It wasn't possible before. But after this interaction, the Livingston family does have a good tradition. They don't bully the weak or seize wealth unjustly, and they even returned Whispering Fern to me. They're pretty decent."

Patrick let out a sigh of relief. Finally, everything made sense.

Charles took a sip of tea. "I thought you'd stick to your principle of holding grudges."

Adeline smiled. "The Livingston family pays well, and Robert likes that."

Charles smiled faintly but didn't say anything. If it were really about the money, she wouldn't have given all the credit to the Taylor Family during the consultation.

Adeline grabbed a few peanuts, cracked them, and handed them to him. "The Livingston family's matters depend on fate. Don't play mediator. Take care of your own health first."

Charles looked at her beautiful face, lightly biting the lozenge, his voice slow. "You'll find out in the future."

"What?" Adeline looked down at him.

Charles's fingertips touched the bracelet. His skin was paler than usual, and the red bracelet on his wrist added a stoic touch.

Suddenly, he leaned in.

Adeline was caught off guard, and a faint scent of tobacco mixed with Charles's fragrance filled her nose.

It smelled really good and was very distinct, different from the surrounding scents.

"In the future, you'll know whether Mr. Livingston likes men or not." His deep voice brushed past Adeline's ear, bringing a hint of warmth.

Usually, she was the one getting close to patients. This was the first time a patient got so close to her, their breaths almost touching.

Adeline turned her head slightly, her eyes falling on his nose. When her thin lips curved, a small dimple appeared, pure and beautiful. "Let's not talk about him. Do you want to stay for dinner?"
