Chapter 16 The Ban Order
The old man was just strolling by and spotted a free clinic, so he decided to give it a shot.
He didn't think he'd actually get healed, and he definitely didn't expect Adeline to treat him for free. He was totally clueless on how to thank her.
After patching him up, Adeline even wiped his hands. "Sir, you just have a simple fracture; even a witch doctor could fix it."
"A simple fracture?" the old man was baffled. "But Ms. Cooper said I needed surgery, and it would cost a million bucks."
A million bucks?
Hearing that, the crowd around him started frowning.
For regular folks, that kind of money was just insane.
"What's that doctor trying to pull? Is she just out to make a quick buck?" Jenna was the first to voice her frustration. As a leader, she was all about looking out for the people's interests.
Others started getting riled up too, turning to Daniel and saying, "Daniel, you gotta handle this!"
Daniel wiped the sweat off his brow. "I'll do my best." He wasn't in charge of healthcare, so this was a bit of a sticky situation.
The crowd discussed, "A million bucks? How could surgery cost that much?"

The old man was still confused. "Isn't Ms. Cooper the top doc in Eldoria? They say it's tough to get an appointment with her, and you gotta wait in line. I waited three days to see her, and outside the hospital, everyone was there for Ms. Cooper. Aren't top docs supposed to be miracle workers?"
Daniel sighed. "You’re right; the Cooper family is the top medical family in Eldoria, with mad skills. They’ve cured a ton of patients with terminal illnesses in the past six months."
"That's what I thought." The old man chuckled. "A big family like the Coopers wouldn’t scam me."
Jenna, however, was even more pissed. "They're just ripping off honest folks!"
"Jenna, you forgot what I told you again." Adeline looked up at her. "Don't get mad."
Jenna turned around. "I can't help it."
The old man's condition was clearly basic.
Any general doc could diagnose it right, but the Cooper family insisted on surgery.
Jenna and the others were right; there was definitely some medical corruption here.
Scamming people who didn't know medical skills, prescribing unnecessary treatments, and milking them for money.
A cold smile crept onto Adeline's lips.
