Chapter 67 Of Unknown Origin
Adeline didn't say a word; she just chomped on the candy, eyes glued to the hall clock.
Sara thought she was bailing, confidently gripping Stella's hand as they plopped back down.
Stella, for some reason, felt her heart racing a bit.
She dropped her gaze, eyes landing on the wooden box.
With everyone watching, Nicholas reached out and lifted the wooden box.
People were already getting ready to congratulate Sara.
Then they heard Nicholas say in a low voice, "The Livingston family ain't saints, but we don't take what's not ours. Life and death are what they are. Whispering Fern's rare, but we can't take it."

In a flash, everyone turned to Nicholas.
Even Adeline, who raised an eyebrow, her pretty eyes showing something different.
Nicholas put the wooden box back, raised his right hand, and a sentence popped up on the wall.

If Adeline guessed right, this was Charles talking.
Sure enough, Nicholas laughed heartily, his voice booming. "Looks like his answer's the same as mine."
"Mr. Nicholas Livingston, this is Whispering Fern!" Sara couldn't keep her cool. "Do you know how many people want it? Plus, doesn't Mr. Charles Livingston need it for his illness?"
Nicholas, leaning on his cane, felt torn before making the call.
No matter what he chose, it was tough.
But now that the call was made, he felt relieved.
Sara was floored; she never saw this coming. By all logic, as long as she offered Whispering Fern, the Livingston family should treat her like royalty.
They turned it down just 'cause Whispering Fern's "origin was unknown"?
Sara took a deep breath.
The stares around her felt like silent but stinging slaps.
"Mr. Nicholas Livingston..." Matthew wanted to say something, but Sara cut in with a laugh, "The Livingston family has its rules. Since they can't take it, we'll keep it in the Cooper family for future use."
Saying this, she turned to ask Stella, "Stella, what do you think?"
"Whispering Fern is a life-saver; it's more valuable in your hand." Stella knew she had to back Sara now. "Mr. Livingston's illness can be treated with other methods, like the drugs you developed abroad."
With Stella's words, the Cooper family was back in the spotlight.
That was Whispering Fern!
If the Livingston family didn't want it, plenty of others did!
Even the Zephyrox Alliance might want the Cooper family back after hearing this!
Not to mention Sara had so many new drugs in the works!
"The Cooper family is awesome!"
"Unlike some people who just get jealous, Ms. Cooper's been doing research and saving tons of cancer patients."

At this, people glanced at Adeline, hinting at something.
Adeline ignored everyone, just slightly curling the corner of her eye.
A minute later, she raised her hand, her thin lips moving slightly. She was silently counting the time. "3, 2, 1. Time's up."
Sara and Matthew were soaking up everyone's admiration.
No one paid attention to Adeline in the corner.
Adeline lowered her eyes and chuckled softly. "It's here."
