Chapter 162 Meeting the Rival in Love
"Why do you keep bringing her up?" Stella's eyes darkened, a hint of malice creeping onto her face as she looked down.
Harold didn't catch on and thought she was just upset. He chuckled, "Don't overthink it. You're the only one I care about now. As for her? She's got no idea how to be gentle. No guy would go for her."
"Really?" Stella bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "But Jasmine always looks down on me. She prefers Adeline."
Harold pulled her into his arms. "Don't worry about my mom. She can't make decisions for my dad. Just hang in there a bit longer, and I'll announce to everyone that you're my fiancée."
"Okay," Stella replied sweetly, but her mind was still fixated on the image of Charles from earlier.
She had to find a way to meet him.
Meanwhile, on the top floor of the Chamber of Commerce building, reps from big companies had gathered, not just from Eldoria.
Everyone wanted to work with the Livingston Group, and Charles was rarely seen.
First, because Charles wasn't in great health, and second, because most people just weren't important enough.
The top floor required a capital verification to enter, and only three companies in Eldoria made the cut.
Even Elijah was stuck on the twenty-fourth floor because he didn't pass the capital check.
The presidential suite's conference room was filled with all sorts of fancy stuff.
Charles sat in the middle, legs crossed, looking down at a project book.
No one there was younger than him.
It was Jason's first time meeting Charles from the Livingston family, and he thought the rumors underestimated him.
His face was so striking it was hard not to stare.
As a fellow CEO, why did he look so much like a bandit?
Jason instinctively touched his right cheek.
Suddenly, Charles spoke, "I heard Mr. Bailey is planning to switch to medical live streaming recently."
Charles's voice was so calm that no one expected him to call someone out directly.
Jason, who was just there to fill a seat, said, "Yeah, I do have that plan."
How did Charles know? Their groups had no interaction.
"Tell us about it," Charles said, no longer flipping through the project book, his eyes fixed on Jason.
Jason felt a chill down his neck.
He wasn't prepared at all. What should he say?
He stood up, but he had no documents. Adeline's project proposal wouldn't be ready until tomorrow.
At this moment, Charles seemed very understanding. "I watched your interview in Eldoria."
The CEOs present exchanged glances.
'Charles actually watched interviews of someone way less important than him?'
Jason was also incredulous. "You watched my inrerview?"
"I did some research," Charles said, his eyes deep. "You have a very distinctive personal style."
Jason didn't quite get it. "Personal style?"
"You wear gold chains and big watches," Charles said. "They're very unique." Actually, he didn't get what was so likable about it, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together.
The other CEOs thought, 'If we knew Charles liked this style, we would have dressed like that too!'
Jason chuckled awkwardly. "It's just because I'm lowbrow."
"Mr. Bailey, no need to be modest," Charles said, giving him a once-over. "You do have your merits. At the very least, your face is reassuring."
In Charles' view, Adeline was a face enthusiast; she probably wouldn't be interested in someone like Jason.
Jason was puzzled. Was that a compliment?
