Chapter 270 Adeline Learns About Her Origins
"You're the one who brought bad luck! You've ruined me!" Jessica had been acting strangely since earlier.
The bodyguard was worried she might hurt someone. "Ms. Vanderbilt, be careful. She's a bit extreme."
"It's fine, you can leave. I need to ask her something personal." Adeline chuckled.
The bodyguard hesitated. "Mr. Livingston instructed us not to let you be in danger."
Adeline's smile widened. "Your Mr. Livingston is right outside. Don't worry. I can protect myself. The poison in her hasn't fully worn off yet; I can handle her."
Only then did the bodyguard turn and close the door.
Jessica grabbed the chain and was about to headbutt Adeline.
Adeline suddenly reached out and grabbed her throat. "Guess what? If you die here, will people investigate you or me?"
When Adeline said she could handle someone, she never said it lightly.
Jessica was struggling to breathe from the choke.
Adeline finally loosened her grip, her voice calm. "Why did you suddenly come to pick me up?"

Adeline leaned in and looked at her. "The Martinez Family kicked me out long ago. You didn't come for me then, so why now? Who tipped you off to go to Eldoria?"
"No, no one!" Jessica, a trafficker who had deceived so many, had never encountered someone so difficult.
Adeline laughed and pulled a strand of her hair. "I'm a doctor. Sometimes it's easy to find out who my parents are. A single hair with a follicle can do a DNA test. Guess why I went through all the trouble to come to Eastgate Towns with you?"
The more Adeline spoke, the wider Jessica's eyes grew.
"In my mind, I remember you." Adeline's voice was low. "I also have memories of your family's cellar. I have two questions. One, where is the gem bottle I wore around my neck as a child? Two, who is the person behind you?"
Adeline moved closer, her tear mole flickering. "Don't lie to me. I have a hundred ways to make you wish you were dead."
Jessica never expected Adeline to remember her childhood!

Jessica didn't want to give in, her voice turning vicious. "If you have the guts, kill me!"
"No, I won't kill you." Adeline smiled serenely at her. "I'll break your limbs, just like you did to the kidnapped girls, lock you in a cowshed, and then give Leroy a large sum of money to marry the woman outside. You'll serve them."
This was Jessica's weak spot!
Her eyes turned red as she glared at Adeline. "You wouldn't dare!"
"What wouldn't I dare?" Adeline retorted. "With you taking the blame, Leroy can live comfortably for the rest of his life."
Jessica imagined that scene and was filled with hatred!
No, she couldn't let herself be in such a miserable state while Leroy and his lover lived happily!
If it weren't for they always pressuring her to have a son, she wouldn't have ended up like this!
Seeing Adeline about to leave, Jessica grabbed her pant leg! "I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"
Adeline sat down.
Jessica licked her lips, thinking about how to start. "You were a bit strange as a child."
That was her first sentence.
Adeline glanced at her.
