Chapter 148 Why Didn't You Choose Me

"Yeah, I agreed," Adeline said lazily, not caring about his feelings.

Charles, on the other hand, subtly furrowed his brow. He wanted to invest, but she turned him down.

But she accepted money from a random person.

Charles smiled, leaning in close. The fresh scent mixed with medicinal herbs hit Adeline's nose. The weather was getting cooler, but his breath was warm. "Why didn't you pick me?"

Adeline looked up, her eyes puzzled, but she gave a solid reason. "Aetheris Group's next project is in pharmaceuticals. After talking it over, it seemed like a good fit. The Vanderbilt Family's business is all overseas, not really suitable for witch doctors."

Her explanation sounded totally legit.

Charles's smile grew, but his eyes stayed cold. He fiddled with the bracelet on his wrist, and then said, "You're right; the Vanderbilt Family isn't a good match for witch doctors."

He thought, 'But my last name isn't Vanderbilt. Plus, Aetheris Group has been pulling in foreign investments lately. Her lies are piling up. Dose she think I am not close enough? Or dose she always see me as just a patient?'

Charles lowered his gaze, his aura turning dangerous.

Patrick sensed Charles was upset.

But he couldn't figure out why.

As for Matteo, the moment he walked into the pharmacy, he exclaimed, "My God, I've only seen these medicine cabinets on TV. Is this what a witch doctor has? Excuse me, is this for sale? I'll pay any price."

He looked around the front desk, eyes full of admiration.

Adeline didn't even look up. "Not for sale."

Matteo was instantly bummed but then got excited again. "I just heard you say your pharmacy needs investment. I can invest!"

If he became a shareholder, he could probably get it.

"No need." Adeline made a gesture of invitation. "Our funding is already full."

She lifted her chin slightly, her face both cold and enchanting. "Lie down."

Matteo had mentioned his back pain because of long-term work-related damage, using it as an excuse.

He didn't expect to actually get treated, especially since his family doctor had told him his back was fine.

"Here?" Adeline pressed a spot with her finger.

Matteo almost jumped from the pain, but then she pressed down with her palm as an axis.

"It's not just your back; your cervical and thoracic vertebrae have issues too," she said calmly, but her hand was firm.

Matteo was stunned. His neck moved left and right, and then Adeline said, "Done."

"That's it?" Matteo couldn't believe it. He touched his lower back and looked at Charles. "It's really not stiff anymore!"

So Charles's friend was indeed a miracle doctor!

That explained why Charles had flown back just for her!

"This is incredible!" Matteo looked at Adeline, his initial curiosity turning into admiration. "How did you do it?"

Adeline smiled mischievously. "You can think of it as the mystery of witch doctors. How will you pay?"

"Pay?" Matteo was a bit slow to react.

Adeline frowned and looked at Charles, who had been silent the whole time. "Your friend doesn't expect a free consultation, does he? You can have it for free, but others can't."
