Chapter 245 Animal Instinct
Reidar gritted his teeth. "I'm warning you, give us the antidote quickly, or you'll never leave Eastgate Towns!"
"Who said I want to leave?" Adeline smiled faintly. "I plan to take him to the Township Board in a bit."
She was referring to Harvey, someone the entire town dared not provoke!
Cadence had been in a daze since earlier; she hadn't reacted at all. Adeline's move was too fast, and that kick could cripple someone.
Harvey, such a ruthless person, still hadn't gotten up.
Harvey's eyes were filled with malice. "Do you really think you can get away with this? I'm a government official. You think you won't be taken away for hurting me like this?"
"I quite like going to the police station," Adeline said, as if she found him dirty, her thin lips slightly curved. "I just wonder how much a bounty is worth for an ugly criminal like you."
Harvey's anger was boiling, but he kept it inside and didn't show it.
He was eager for Adeline to take him to the Township Board to seek justice.
That way, Adeline wouldn't be able to escape!
Not just her, even that soldier who came a few days ago was dealt with by their schemes!
Harvey's eyes were calm, and he said no more.
The Vanderbilt Family was already in chaos. Two elderly people ran out from the inner room, looking at Adeline with pleading eyes. "Please give them the antidote. He was wrong, but not to the point of death. He was just trying to support his family. It's not easy for us."
Tears welled up in the old woman's eyes.
Reidar was still shouting, "Mom, don't beg her; she's dead for sure!"
"Shut up!" The old lady reached out, seemingly to pull Adeline's sleeve.
The old man, however, was unusually calm. He took out a whistle hanging around his neck and blew it.
Instantly, the two wolfdogs in the yard stood up straight, their black, shiny eyes looking even more fierce and bloodthirsty in the night, baring their fangs.
The next second, they leaped directly towards the house!
Cadence knew what the whistle meant. She screamed a warning and tried to push Adeline away!
Unexpectedly, Adeline turned around, coldly watching the approaching wolfdogs. Her stunningly beautiful face became even more striking, and her eyes, for some reason, turned half-red.
Right at the door, Adeline's whole demeanor became dominant, exuding a strong sense of oppression!
She just stood there, extending her bitten hand, letting the blood drip on the ground, her long hair flying, and her thin lips slightly pursed. "Get lost."
Her voice was very soft. So soft that only Cadence could hear it clearly.
In the night, the two charging wolfdogs suddenly stopped, as if sensing some dangerous aura, circling back and forth.
Finally, facing Adeline, they retreated on their hind legs, their heads touching the ground, and ran away!
One of them even almost tripped, afraid it wasn't running fast enough!
These two wolfdogs had been raised by the Vanderbilt Family since they were pups, fed on raw meat to make them fierce!
People in the village would take a detour when they saw them.
They had never been so cowardly before!
The old man kept blowing the whistle, but seeing the wolfdogs running even faster, he shouted, "Rocky, Max, come back! Here!"
They wouldn't return.
It could only be said that animals' instincts were sometimes more accurate than humans'.
They knew very well who they could provoke and who they couldn't.
