Chapter 155 Ditch Me

"What?" Charles asked, his wrist sporting a bracelet, looking all noble and distant.

It just made people want to destroy him, to see him fall, especially since he was rocking a perfectly tailored suit.

Adeline reached out, her fingers brushing his diamond cufflink, her smile turning a bit playful. "Can I bite you?"

She'd never asked for something like this before.

Whenever her manic episodes hit, she'd tough it out, dunking her head in ice-cold water.

She didn't know why, but with him, she had this weird urge to see if his neck was as cold as it looked by biting it.

Normally, he'd say no, but Charles chuckled. "Where do you want to bite?"

"Your neck." Adeline was already getting impatient, her tongue flicking over her lips, smiling all free and easy.

Charles wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her up, his breath close. "At this height, it'd be easier for you to sink your teeth in me."

"True." Adeline didn't care about how close they were, especially in such a tight space. He pinned her against the wall, whispering softly, and all anyone else could see was his tall frame.

No one knew what was going on around the corner.

Plus, no one ever came here. The sunlight didn't reach, and there were no meds stored.

Except for Adeline coming here to smoke sometimes, it was pretty much deserted.

All she could think about was calming her restless feelings.

She didn't even notice his Adam's apple moving.

Not giving him a chance to back out, Adeline bit down on Charles' neck, feeling a coolness and a rich scent spreading in her mouth.

Almost instinctively, she bit deeper, letting out a soft and satisfied hum.

It was like she was enjoying it yet confused by it, sparking endless thoughts.

Charles looked at Adeline in his arms, his hand on her waist pressing a bit harder. When her lips touched his neck, it didn't hurt; he actually wanted her to stay longer.

But soon, Adeline snapped out of it, the irritability in her blood fading, replaced by a weird sense of euphoria.

It was like finally eating after being starved.

The feeling was subtle and hard to describe.

But something was off.

It wasn't about him, it was about her.

Adeline slumped in Charles' arms, her legs weak, unable to stand.

"There's something in your blood." That was the first thing she said.

Charles held her, his fingers tucking her hair behind her ear, his deep eyes drawing her in. "What is it?"

"Maybe poison, maybe something else." Adeline had no clue, but one thing was certain. "To me, it smells really good."

Charles talked like it was no big deal. "If you ever feel like it in the future, you can bite anytime; it can offset the medical bills, after all."

"No, just this once." Adeline felt her body heating up, a thin layer of sweat forming. "I always have this feeling that once I get involved with you, it'll be very difficult to..."

"What?" Charles raised an eyebrow.

'Very difficult to shake you off.' Adeline didn't say the rest; she braced herself against the wall to get up.

But he pressed her back down. "Are you planning to ditch me? Aren't you gonna take responsibility for the bite?"
