Chapter 22 Medical License

"You really know your stuff, huh?" Xavier was kinda shocked and started seeing Adeline in a new light.

Sara, on the other hand, rolled her eyes. "Mr. Scott, you gotta be kidding me. What can a young chick like her do besides dolling up for guys? Does she even have the chops to study medicine?"

Xavier was puzzled by Sara's hostility and jumped to Adeline's defense, "If she doesn't know medicine, how'd she figure out the patient's condition?"

Sara sneered, "She probably overheard the nurses. The least like her are always sneaky."

"Ms. Cooper, she just got here, and we haven't even talked to her yet," the nurse chimed in, clearly fed up with Sara's bullying.

Sara shot a glare. "So what? How old is she? Did she even graduate? Does she have a license to treat patients?"

Without missing a beat, Adeline slapped her medical license on the chair. And more surprising, it was an attending physician's license!

Anyone who knew about medicine knew how tough it was to become an attending physician!

Now, who'd dare question her creds?

The sound was like a slap in Sara's face, hard.

The doctors and nurses were floored. "An attending physician? That's a big deal in Eldoria, right? How'd she pull that off at such a young age?"

Adeline's intense gaze locked onto Sara. "Step aside."

Sara's face turned sour, still doubting the license was legit.

Adeline was already being led into the ward by Nathan.

Xavier tagged along too.

Other nurses, who usually wouldn't cross Sara, pitched in, eager to save the patient.

Sara watched, fuming. No one had ever challenged her like this at the hospital.

"Let her handle it. I wanna see who takes the fall if things go south!" Sara had her own plans. She knew from Xavier's words that Alexander's case was tricky.

She had her reasons for not stepping in.

Tough cases with low rewards? She wasn't going to do such a stupid thing.

If Adeline wanted to show off, let her. If she messed up, the patient's family would raise hell, and there'd be a show to watch.

As far as she knew, the family hadn't signed any consent forms. If things went wrong, Adeline would be in deep trouble!

"Turn on the emergency room's recording equipment," Sara said with a smirk. "Make sure nothing goes wrong, or the hospital's on the hook."

Because of the special circumstances, a crowd gathered to watch.

In the emergency room, Adeline suited up with a mask and sterile gown. She stood by the bed, moving like a pro.

She asked, "Got the patient's chest X-ray?"

"Right here." Xavier handed it over.

Adeline took it, her face calm. "Lobar pneumonia with heart failure."

"Yep!" Xavier nodded.

Adeline opened the medical kit. "Give me the rundown on the patient's conditions and meds."

"The patient is seventy-eight. He has coronary heart disease, hypertension, and a urinary tract infection," Xavier said, struggling. "Other conditions are unknown. The worst part is he's allergic to a bunch of antibiotics, so we can't use them freely."

Adeline listened, cool as a cucumber, lifting Alexander's sleeve. "Just as I thought."

Xavier's eyes widened. "What is it?"

"A tick bite," Adeline said, unfazed.

The medical staff in the observation room were all stunned.

"We examined him for ages and missed that wound."

"It's easy to miss such a tiny wound."

"How'd she know?"

"Not sure, but she's incredible. She spotted the tick bite right away. Unreal!"
