Chapter 21 She is the Caregiver

"May I ask who are you?" William spun around, eyeing the newcomer.

Standing there was a young girl, casually sucking on a lollipop. She had this beauty and vibe that you just couldn't ignore.

Her eyes were deep, like they held some kinda mystery when she looked at you.

William had this nagging feeling he'd seen those eyes somewhere before.

Nathan, not wanting William to get the wrong idea about Adeline, quickly jumped in, "William, she's the doc I brought."

"Bullshit!" A cold, stern voice cut Nathan off mid-sentence.

"It's you again, you greedy little thing." Sara, who'd just shown up, gave Adeline a once-over with a sour look. "Here to mooch and scam the hospital again?"

She raised her voice. "Who let her in? Didn't anyone check?"

Hearing the commotion, Xavier rushed over. "Ms. Cooper, it's a misunderstanding. These folks are the patient's caregivers, and the patient's situation is serious. Please treat him ASAP."

Sara thought, 'The patient's caregivers? So they're Adeline's folks, pretending to be big shots from Zelphoria to trick me into treating this patient.'

Since she made a wasted trip, she decided to give him a "proper" treatment.

"Everyone out," Sara said, all high and mighty.

Nathan stood his ground, "No way, we're staying."

He couldn't trust Alexander to this shady doc.

Sara shot back coldly, "I don't like an audience when I work. If you can't deal with that, don't book me."

Would she even work overtime?

Did everyone have the right to her treatment?

Nathan had heard the rumors about Sara's bad rep, but seeing her arrogance in person was a whole different ball game.

His anger was about to boil over!

Nathan growled under his breath, "You're a doctor! How can you just leave the patient untreated?"

Sara couldn't care less. She said lazily, "Sir, you're being unreasonable. I asked to clear the room, and you said no. My hands are tied."

Sara thought for a sec and then smirked. "If you want me to treat him, fine."

She pointed her chin at Adeline. "She pissed me off. I won't make it hard for you country folks. As long as she apologizes, I'll treat him right away."

"In your dreams!" Nathan wasn't dumb; he was sharp. Seeing Sara's attitude, he knew she was just being difficult.

"Watch your mouth! Trying to stir up trouble here?" Sara's voice was dripping with mockery. Even Xavier couldn't take it and looked down.

Nathan was shaking with rage, his fists clenched tight!

Adeline, the one in the middle of it all, reached out to calm him, her voice steady. "Chill out. Saving lives comes first. We'll handle the rest later."

Nathan's eyes were red. "Alright! Just please, save his life!"

William, the doc from the Vanderbilt Family, saw his buddy Nathan's reaction. He didn't know Adeline well, but he already trusted her medical skills completely.

Sara sneered, "You really think an amateur can save lives? How naive."

"William, Ms. Cooper has a point. Don't act rashly," Xavier said, not against Adeline but worried about her being young and inexperienced. "Alexander's condition is too complex. Neither you nor I can handle it. Can she?"

Adeline listened, then checked her watch, her tone calm. "From the start, the patient had trouble breathing and a high fever, then a dry cough with blood, and serious chest pain. He might already be losing consciousness."

Every symptom was spot on!

Xavier was floored!
