Chapter 47 Nutritious Dinner
Dinner was ready, and the table was loaded with a killer spread.
Xavier was eyeing the food but didn't wanna be the first to dive in.
Summer grinned and said, "Alright, y'all, dig in and check out Adeline's cooking."
Xavier and Patrick were both itching to start, but Patrick remembered Charles was right next to him.
Charles had a touchy stomach and usually avoided eating out.
"Mr. Livingston, how about..." Before he could finish, Charles had already grabbed his fork.
Patrick got a bit jittery, thinking about what might go down if Charles got acid reflux or something.
Just then, Adeline came over with a tray of four small dishes and a pot of porridge, setting it in front of Charles. "These are for you."
Charles looked up at her.
Patrick was impressed by Adeline's thoughtfulness. 'No wonder she's a doc; she catches everything.'
Charles, on the other hand, felt kinda special and smiled, forgetting her earlier comment about not caring if he was a guy or a girl.
Once she saw everyone was enjoying their meal, Summer started eating too.
The dinner was so delicious that Xavier was totally hooked.
Charles had planned to just nibble a bit since he never had much of an appetite.
But before he knew it, he'd downed three pieces of roasted potato and two bowls of porridge.
The only reason he didn't go for a fourth piece was 'cause Adeline stopped him. "Don't overdo it."
Others could overdo it; why couldn't he?
Charles raised an eyebrow.
Adeline chuckled softly. "How about some ginger tea?"
"Sure." Charles got up.
Adeline handed him a handful of raw peanuts. "Eat 'em with the skin on."
Charles rolled them between his fingers, clearly not a fan.
Adeline's voice was calm. "The final part of today's nutritional meal. Raw peanuts."
Patrick, who had just finished eating, overheard and realized everything Adeline had done was to help Charles's condition.
Adeline handed him a note. "Follow this when you get home."
Patrick quickly pocketed it. Charles had never eaten this much in one go.
During the holidays, he'd eat more to make his family happy, but he'd always feel crappy for days after.
In the past six months, Charles's appetite had been tanking. The Livingston family had tried everything, even hiring over a dozen Michelin chefs. But nothing worked.
Today, Charles had a big appetite, and his face was a bit flushed with no signs of nausea. Instead, he was sweating a lot.
This made Patrick super happy!
