Chapter 326 The Two Are Officially Together

Charles helped her cut the steak and pushed it over. "She really wanted to marry into the Livingston family, but I turned her down."

"Just wanted to clarify early, so you don't misunderstand." Charles's eyes were attractive, looking rather helpless. "You don't care about me at all, my rumored girlfriend."

Adeline ate the beef he cut. "I haven't heard about this yet, but I do care. Stay away from her."

"Okay." There was a hint of a smile in Charles's eyes. Was she jealous?

Adeline didn't think much of it. "Her perfume is strange, it's not good for your health."

"Just because of that?" Charles's voice was very low.

The sound of the saxophone played in the background, and Adeline didn't quite hear him. "What?"

"Nothing. Do you suspect she has ill intentions towards the Vanderbilt family?" Charles's smile was elegant: "What did you find out this time when you went to the Vanderbilt Villa?"

Adeline thought Charles was sometimes too smart. She would say one thing, and he could guess the whole story.

"Grandpa's illness is not ordinary; he was poisoned." Adeline didn't mention the divination. "That poison can't be brought in by just anyone, unless it's someone from the Vanderbilt family."

After hearing this, Charles suddenly asked, "You previously warned me that the medicinal scent was unusual and not suitable for prolonged exposure. Is it related to her?"

"You should ask yourself that." Adeline's eyes were clear and bright. "That medicinal scent does have a calming effect, but it's too strong for your body. Who gave it to you?"

Charles didn't hide it from her. "My family got it from the church."

"Someone wants to target the Livingston family." Adeline put down her knife and fork, wiping the corner of her mouth. "Starting with you is the quickest way. Using such a roundabout method is just to avoid being discovered by you."

Upon hearing this, Charles's gaze fell on her beautiful face. "You saved my life again."

Adeline was drinking water. "It's not that dramatic."

"How is it not?" Charles chuckled. "In the old days, even offering myself wouldn't be enough."

Adeline almost choked, put down her glass, and met his eyes. "I have intermittent explosive disorder."

"I know." Charles pointed to his neck with his long fingers. "Here, you left a mark."

"Intermittent explosive disorder is a mental illness and can be hereditary." Adeline advised him from a doctor's perspective. "Can you accept that?"

Charles smiled. "Then what about someone like me with particularly poor health?"

Adeline opened her mouth, just about to speak.

Charles fed her a spoonful of caramel pudding. "You have mental issues, I have physical issues, we're quite a match."

Adeline enjoyed the pudding and signaled him to scoop another spoonful. "But I don't like being controlled. Your family must have a lot of rules."

"Who have you been listening to?" Charles chuckled. "Why is it always some scandal about the Livingston family?"

Adeline propped her chin. "Scandal? Do you want to hear the things you've said before?"

"So you used to pay attention to me?" Charles took a napkin and wiped her cheek. "Those were said for others to hear, you're not others."

Adeline really thought that with his face, saying such things was a bit unfair. "Once the Vanderbilt family matter is resolved, I'll go with you to see Nicholas."

If the distance between them was a hundred steps, Charles had already taken ninety-nine. If she didn't take even one step, it wouldn't quite match her character.

Adeline reached out and poked his handsome, noble face with her fingertip. "I like this face."
