Chapter 246 Sneaking Out
"This whole act is exhausting." Adeline withdrew her gaze, standing at the doorway, blocking everyone's exit. Her tone was as lazy as ever. "Alright, stop pretending. Someone tell me, where's the key to the basement?"
Jessica, who had brought she along, was now barely hanging on.
Her regret was evident in her eyes.
The old man had a grim face, cursing Adeline under his breath.
He was cursing in a dialect.
Adeline couldn't understand, but she wasn't stupid. She yanked him over. "You should know."
Seeing this, Samuel went berserk. "If you touch my grandpa, I'll kill you!"
Adeline couldn't be bothered to look at him. She would hit anyone who came her way.
"You even hit the elderly; you won't die a good death!" Samuel said, panting.
Adeline slapped him and then lifted the old man again, curling her lips into a smile. "Give me the key in three seconds, or when Samuel's poison deepens, the Vanderbilt Family will have no descendants."
Upon hearing this, his face immediately changed!
What he cared about most was continuing the family line!
The old lady squatted there crying, "Just give it to her. Samuel can't be in trouble!"
"You don't understand; the person locked in the basement can't be released!"
Adeline, with her long legs propped up, was running out of patience. "3, 2..."
Before Adeline could count to 1.
Samuel was hugging himself, trembling all over as if he had epilepsy.
"The key is in my coat pocket!"
After saying this, the old man slumped completely.
Was the Vanderbilt Family going to be finished?
He glared with his cloudy eyes, still unwilling.
He reached for his phone, intending to send an alert.
Adeline kicked it, and the phone shattered.
Harvey almost wanted to say the Vanderbilt Family was stupid.
If there was a signal here, he would have called for help long ago.
He couldn't get up, and Amara was too scared to be of any use.
Adeline moved swiftly, taping everyone's mouths shut, taking the key, and locking the door.
She threw a black bag to Cadence, telling her to wait there.
At that moment, a little girl holding a stuffed bunny suddenly ran into the yard, calling out to Cadence, "Why are you outside with the new people? Where are Grandpa and the others?"
She tilted her head, her little eyes squinting into a line. "I know, you want to sneak out again."
Cadence opened her mouth but hadn't spoken yet.
She looked at her disdainfully. "Give me a dollar, and I won't tell anyone."
Cadence's face turned pale.
She pouted. "If you don't give it to me, I'll shout!"
Adeline smiled and waved her over. "I'll give it to you. Not just money, I have candy too."
The little girl's eyes lit up. "People from the city are the best!"
She skipped over.
Adeline squatted down and placed the candy in her hand.
She took the candy and bit into it.
She thought to herself, she had to hurry back and tell her dad.
Adeline must have more than just this.
Once she stayed here, everything Adeline had would be hers!
