Chapter 12 She is a Miracle Doctor
"Since you know Ian's savior, go grab some gifts for her." Charles coughed a bit, his eyes locking onto Kenneth with that intense, unreadable look. "In a few days, I'll take Ian to see her myself."
Kenneth, feeling the heat from Charles' stare, got all jittery and couldn't meet his eyes. He quickly replied, "Got it, boss!"
Outside the Caesar Hotel, Sara showed up today for the doctor recruitment gig the Livingston family put out, hoping to show off her skills. She even brought a new student along. If she could fix Charles' tough health issues, it would boost her career big time. Plus, it’d be a great way to get in good with the Livingston family.
But, surprise surprise, Charles was a no-show. Top-tier families always kept you guessing.
As Sara and Stella were about to bounce, a young dude dressed like a med student came running over. "Ms. Cooper! We don't know what's up with James. He's lying by the traffic light, and we can't get him up."
"Ms. Cooper, you go ahead. I'll wait here with my parents," Stella said, all considerate.
Sara nodded and turned to the student, "Alright, take me to him, quick."
When Sara got to the traffic light, she saw James in pain. Seeing her, James said, "Ms. Cooper, please help me. I can't get up, no idea why."
Sara checked him out and found he was totally stuck!
"What happened? Who did this to you?" Sara asked.
James answered, "A woman on a shared bike rode by. She's a doctor. She and some kid teamed up—one pretended to faint, the other pretended to help. I tried to step in, but she humiliated me and you. She even hit me with a stone."
"What? She hit you with a stone?" A stone could knock someone out like that?
"What did she look like? Any features you remember?" Sara had heard about the miracle doctors from the Zephyrox Alliance. She hadn't met Charles today, but meeting this miracle doc could be a win too.
James remembered Adeline's mocking eyes, her light touch that left him paralyzed, and the crowd's laughter. He was fuming.
He had busted his butt to become Sara's student. The competition among med students was cutthroat, and everyone had to be top-notch to get into Zelphoria Medical School. He was a standout among his peers to become Sara's student. He had earned his spot through hard work and talent. He was a legit doctor, unlike Adeline, who was a total fraud! James kept replaying the past, trying to reclaim his pride and dignity as a doctor.
"Ms. Cooper, look. Someone posted today's incident online. This should be the woman who messed with James," said the student who had brought Sara to James, glancing at James' face.
James' face was beet red, and the onlookers couldn't tell if it was from anger or embarrassment.
Sara took the phone and saw that the woman in the video was Adeline she had just met, a relative of the Martinez Family.
Sara couldn't help but think, 'Could Adeline be the legendary doctor?'
