Chapter 27 Intimate Contact
Nathan was freaking out more and more the longer he thought about it.
But then, a sense of duty kicked in. He'd already made up his mind; no way he was gonna just sit back and let Adeline wreck herself!
With his mind made up, Nathan decided it was time to step up for the Vanderbilt Family for once!
"Her wording's kinda off," Nathan said, giving Charles a pleading look "You cool with that?"
Charles, with few words, just gave a slight nod.
Adeline raised an eyebrow, confused. "Why you so jumpy? Did I say something wrong?"
"Nope." Charles suddenly cracked a smile, but it was colder than a freezer. "You nailed it."
"You're good-looking and smooth-talking. Must be God's favorite," Adeline said, impressed. His voice was like music.
After that, she turned her attention to the doctors who had gotten back to their spots.
Earlier, everyone had gone to grab books and phones, totally missing the drama that had just gone down.
"Everyone here?" Adeline asked.
"Yep!" the doctors chimed in together, like they were back in med school.
Adeline suddenly raised her right hand and popped open the first button of Charles's shirt.
Grinning, Adeline said, "Today, I'm gonna show you a trick to stop coughing."
Her fingers lightly touched Charles's neck, her look all business, no funny stuff.
As Adeline talked, her fingers kept moving around.
She continued, "Acupuncture works best when you nail the needle technique and placement."
Adeline's fingers slid along Charles's neck and stopped behind his ear.
As her explanation got more mysterious, the doctors got more into it. No one noticed the slight change in Charles's eyes, who was basically a "live demo."
He could feel every spot because her fingers were pressing on him.
Since he was a kid, Charles had been known for his annoying germophobia. Even with family, he hated being touched. It wasn't that he was weird; his skin was just super sensitive. Any touch would make red rashed appear.
But now, Adeline's touch didn't make him break out at all.
Maybe Adeline just didn't carry germs.
Charles's eyes landed on Adeline's pretty face.
When she leaned over, her long hair would gently brush his arm. Her eyes weren't on him, and her voice went up and down, hitting the important parts while her fingers pressed just right.
The doctors were totally hooked. Even Aaron didn't care about Charles's status anymore; he just kept nodding, impressed with Adeline.
'She was definitely a rising star. If she could join our hospital... Yeah! I should invite her!' Aaron suddenly thought.
The doctors kept asking for more details, and when Adeline finished the acupuncture, they looked kinda bummed.
"That's it already?"
"I wanted to hear more," someone mumbled. Charles also felt a bit off. When those cool fingers left, his throat felt even itchier.
