Chapter 30 Becoming Friends
Adeline leaned in close to Charles, her eyes half-closed as she took in his scent.
"First off, you gotta fix your sleep and diet," Adeline said, rubbing her neck. "Eating right and sticking to a routine will help with your illness."
Charles, noticing how tired she looked, softly replied, "Okay."
His voice was so close that by the time Adeline realized, he had already grabbed her bag.
"Patrick, take her back," Charles said in a cool tone, but there was an edge to it.
Patrick, knowing better than to argue, quietly said, "Yes."
"No need. I'm heading to the hospital across the street," Adeline said, treating Charles like just another patient, even if he was a good-looking one. She didn't want to get mixed up with these complicated folks. "Let Nathan take me."
"Yeah, I'll take her!" Nathan chimed in loudly. "I got this; don't worry!"
Charles nodded.
Patrick couldn't help but suggest, "Mr. Livingston, aren't you gonna get her contact info?"
Only then did Charles turn back to Adeline.
Adeline, always straightforward, handed over her phone. "Put your number in. When Alexander has his appointment, I'll set it up for you."
Usually, people were dying to get Charles's contact info, only to end up with Kenneth's voicemail.
For the head of the high-and-mighty Livingston family to actually enter a number himself was probably a first.
Aaron quietly sidled up, trying to sneak a peek, eager to get Charles's number!
Adeline blocked the phone and softly asked, "Mr. Taylor, need something?"
He said, "Why don't you take mine too? Just in case you need anything!"
Adeline didn't mind and treated everyone the same.
Before leaving, she glanced back at Charles standing in the interplay of light and shadow.
The doctor next to him was talking, and he wasn't using his family's clout to push anyone around.
His knowledge and info were way above everyone else's.
Yet he was still willing to listen. With qualities like that, no wonder he had such a presence.
Though he seemed a bit cold, like he'd seen it all, he didn't complain about his fate, and his eyes were strikingly beautiful.
He was gentle, smart, and knew how to be accommodating.
It'd be a real shame if he died.
"Are you really gonna treat that guy?" Nathan asked.
"That guy?" Adeline caught the key point. "Isn't he from the Vanderbilt family?"
Nathan didn't want to spill the beans but also didn't want to lie, so he stammered out, "Sort of; we're kinda related, but he doesn't have the same last name."
"Subordinates should protect their boss's privacy; you did the right thing," Adeline said, stopping to look at the alley across the street. "You can go back; I'll handle it. Don't worry; I'll be here on time tomorrow."
"If you don't mind, I'd like to be friends with you!" Nathan said earnestly, not caring about their age difference. "When you come to Zelphoria, I'll have your back!"
Adeline did plan to return to Zelphoria.
It was just a matter of time.
That was the base of the Zephyrox Alliance.
She didn't turn down Nathan's enthusiasm.
Adeline liked people who were straightforward, upright, and had a business mindset.
