Chapter 117 Gladly
Jade's feet dangled off the ground, her face going ghostly pale with fear.
Robert was just about to squeeze harder.
Adeline chimed in, "Throw stuff, not people."
Only then did Robert let go, still glaring at Jade.
Jade was already petrified, crumpling to the floor.
Vanessa knew Robert was strong, but she'd never seen him lose it like this. "Adeline, he..."
"Vanessa, chill," Adeline said calmly. "Robert knows his limits."
Robert didn't move again, just stood by the door looking all intimidating.
When Holly walked up, he even waved his hand in front of his nose, like she smelled bad or something.
Seeing this, Holly couldn't hold it in anymore, feeling a tightness in her chest.
If it weren't for Nathan, she wouldn't have shown up here at all.
"I don't get why you're so stubborn. We bring gifts, and you don't even accept them!"
Adeline's lips curled up a bit. "What you're doing doesn't look like gift-giving; it looks more like forced charity. I remember the Vanderbilt family has a rule: be a good person first, then do good things. Seems like you're missing the first part."
"Adeline!" Holly took a deep breath and signed someone to take the gift boxes away. "With that attitude, don't expect to do business with the Vanderbilt family anymore."
Her tone was totally different from her usual image. Maybe she thought people from the lower class were supposed to serve the Vanderbilt family.
So when folks in this small place showed such disdain for her, Holly couldn't keep her cool.
Adeline was unfazed. "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."
Holly didn't say another word and left with her bodyguards.
Jade limped along beside her, eyes full of venom towards Adeline.
She would make Adeline pay for this!
Vanessa, seeing Adeline dare to offend such important people, was a bit worried for her. "Adeline, they won't harm you, will they?"
"Vanessa, relax. She's just a client I don't get along with." Adeline suddenly smiled, a playful look on her face. "Didn't you see? I have no shortage of clients online."
Vanessa thought for a moment and then jumped up. "I knew it! Adeline, you're famous online!"
Saying this, she enlarged her phone screen. "Look! So many people are inquiring about the Lumina Vitae Foundation!"
Adeline smiled faintly without saying a word.
Vanessa was super happy. "Where's Summer? I have to tell her this news. She'll finally be recognized!"
Adeline pointed. "She's in the back room."
Vanessa had guessed as much and glanced at Robert as she went in. "You are really scary today."
Robert, with a sandwich in his mouth, looked up at her.
"Robert, you have to listen to me. When you go to school, you can't fight like this," Vanessa said, trying to pat his head again.
Robert dodged and gestured, "I'm not going to school!"
Vanessa asked, "What's he saying?"
Adeline smiled lightly. "He said he understands. Thanks, Vanessa."
"Robert is so good!" Vanessa hugged Robert, patted him, and then went inside.
Adeline looked at the stiff Robert and walked over to flick his forehead. "Alright, a hug is just a hug."
Adeline suddenly thought of something and asked, "What did you smell on Holly just now?"
Robert's whole fair face scrunched up.
"Stinky?" Adeline's eyes deepened. "Something's definitely off."
