Chapter 135 The Bad Guys Are Here
"Mr. Bailey, this is the spot."
The top-tier business car rolled to a stop at the intersection.
Jason eyed the narrow, old street with suspicion, his brows knitting together. "You sure about this?"
How could the boss be in a place like this?
There was even a farmers' market nearby, with elderly folks haggling over prices.
Since diving into the business world, Jason had never set foot in a place like this.
Mark nodded. "Yep, this is Chrysanthemum Alley. Mr. Bailey, are you heading to the hospital across the street?"
"Hospital? Nah." Jason pointed to Chrysanthemum Alley. "Right here, as long as this is the place."
His boss, who hated the smell of blood and was too lazy for that, would never go to a hospital.
With that, Jason hopped out of the car, followed by a line of black-suited bodyguards.
The scene was so intense that anyone watching might think he was part of some crime syndicate, radiating a menacing vibe.
Even with a smile, Jason still looked far from friendly. "Excuse me, do you know where the Lumina Vitae Foundation is?"
Stanley Coleman, who was buying veggies, shivered and turned his cart away. "No idea!"
Jason paused, touching his face, and asked Mark, "Do I look that scary?"
"Mr. Bailey, your presence is just too strong," Mark, ever the business school grad, spoke flawlessly.
Jason chuckled. "He definitely knows. Follow him."
Stanley did know the Lumina Vitae Foundation was right across from his house. He had just gotten some fish from Adeline this morning. He needed to hurry back and warn Adeline that trouble was coming!
The black-suited bodyguards moved with a threatening vibe, and the elderly folks picking vegetables were all watching.
Henry, who had followed them, quickly paid the fare and realized this was where Summer lived.
"Why would Mr. Bailey come to a place like this?" Henry was utterly baffled, muttering to himself as he hurried forward.
Since he was late, he didn't know if Jason had entered the alley, so he decided to wait near the car.
After all, Jason would have to come out eventually!
Adeline had just put away her equipment and was sitting on a wooden chair, sending messages.
These past few days, as soon as her stream ended, the room manager would reach out, and this time was no different.
Admin007 texted: [I noticed you never show your face. How about considering a face reveal when you hit five million followers as a fan benefit?]
Adeline replied: [Not considering it.]
Admin007: [Alright, I respect that. Every streamer has their own style. The cyber police said they need your help with something.]
Adeline sent a screenshot and typed: [This is evidence I captured during my stream. You can give it to them; the forensic team will verify it.]
Admin007 was silent.
This new streamer was impressive, knowing exactly what the cyber police needed.
Admin007: [That Guardian Angel badge can be added. Do you want me to add it to that Ultimate VIP in your stream?]
Adeline thought for a moment. The Ultimate VIP had spent money, after all. Without asking what the badge looked like, she replied while busy with other matters: [Okay, thanks.]
Admin007 texted: [By the way, there's one more thing. I didn't know you didn't want to show your face, so I signed you up for the platform's annual contest. I saw the prize money was substantial and the exposure was great, so I wanted to give you a boost.]
Adeline: [I saw that. It's fine; thank you for your hard work.]
The room manager was a bit surprised. He thought Adeline would be aggressive.
Many big streamers, especially those with significant donations, were not easy to deal with.
He didn't expect her to be so chill.
Outside, Stanley hadn't even entered the door when he shouted, "Adeline, quick; put away your sign!"
Adeline put down her phone and poured him a cup of tea. "Stanley, slow down. What's going on?"
"Bad people have come to your place! They even asked me about your grandma's shop. I played dumb and didn't tell them!" Stanley quickly took a sip of water to calm his nerves.
Just as he was speaking, the doorbell rang.
