Chapter 235 Taking Care of Everything

Raindrops hit the window.

Not sure what was going on. Summer had been feeling uneasy.

Maybe it was because Adeline was gone. No matter how many patients she saw, the yard still felt empty.

Compared to the heavy rain in Eldoria, it was just overcast on the mountain.

Jessica gently called Adeline, "Adeline, do you want to go to the service area and have some instant noodles?"

"Okay." Adeline seemed very agreeable.

But wherever she went, she always carried her black bag.

This caught the attention of Leroy, who was smoking nearby.

The driver also nodded at Leroy.

Leroy lowered his voice. "Don't rush."

Adeline hadn't drunk the potion yet. What if she woke up halfway?

It was not safe to make a move on the highway; they had to wait until they reached Ravenwood County.

The food at the service station was limited.

Jessica took good care of Adeline.

People passing by would only think she was a good mother.

"Be careful; it's hot." Jessica placed the prepared instant noodles in front of Adeline.

Adeline blew on it and was about to eat when a surprised voice came from the side.

"Isn't this the doctor who was picking mushrooms on the mountain before?"

Kristoffer's eyes lit up. "I've always wanted to find you at Chrysanthemum Alley! What are you doing here?"

Adeline never forgot a face. Seeing Kristoffer, she remembered him. "Looks like your heart is healed."

"Thanks to your advice on the mountain that day," Kristoffer said, frowning. "Where are you going? Why are you at this service station?"

Adeline turned her head slightly, still smiling. "Going back home with my mom."

Jessica had been worried about the sudden appearance of someone.

Now hearing Adeline's words, she also smiled. "We came to pick up Adeline."

Kristoffer found it strange. Didn't Adeline say her parents were dead last time?

How did she suddenly have a mom with such accent?

"Hello." Although Kristoffer was puzzled, he didn't forget to greet them. Then he said, "Where are you heading? I have a car. I can give you a ride."

Kristoffer had always wanted to repay Adeline for saving his life on the mountain.

Adeline blew on her noodles, her tone indifferent. "Eastgate Towns."

Kristoffer's face changed drastically upon hearing Eastgate Towns.

He looked at Jessica, as if he had something to say but was hesitant.

Adeline asked, "What?"

"Are you from there?" Kristoffer found it hard to believe.

Adeline smiled, evading the question. "I guess so."

"What do you mean 'I guess so'? That place..." Kristoffer noticed Jessica's gaze on him.

Adeline raised an eyebrow nonchalantly. "What's wrong with it?"

'It eats people, especially female college students and children,' Kristoffer thought, but he didn't dare to say it outright. He had already seen the local kingpin, smoking outside.

And Adeline's mother seemed a bit strange too, though Kristoffer couldn't pinpoint why.

He could only lower his voice. "It's best if you don't go. That place has a lot of mosquitoes and it's easy to get sick. I'm afraid you won't adapt."

"You're funny," Jessica said, opening a sausage for Adeline. "We're going home. We have medicine for mosquitoes."

Kristoffer's face turned even grimmer.

This was a coded warning, telling him not to meddle.

"What's wrong?" Leroy walked over at the right moment, looking honest. Kristoffer's pupils shook uneasily as Leroy and the driver approached.
