Chapter 166 Curious About Appearance

Charles's eyes locked onto the top floor of the chamber of commerce. After a beat, he smirked. "Oh, we did meet before."

Adeline's eyes narrowed, and her vibe turned a bit dangerous.

She was trying to figure out how much he knew about her and if she needed to pay him a visit to sort things out.

Then, she heard the sound of clothes rustling as the person on the other end of the phone stood up, followed by the flick of a lighter. His voice was calm. "You saved Ian. I was in the car at the time. He insisted on meeting you, but I sent him back to Zelphoria. I wasn't in great shape then, and I've always wanted to thank you in person."

Sent? From his tone, "thrown" seemed more fitting.

So, it was because she saved Ian.

That was cool. Adeline toyed with the gem in her hand, and the hostility in her eyes faded a bit.

"And," his voice lowered, a tinge of sadness creeping in with the rustling wind, "It really bothers me that you refused to treat me."

Adeline sensed a hint of sincerity in his tone, making her feel like she might've misjudged him. "Given your ongoing health needs and reported history of allergies, it might be more suitable for a female healthcare provider to attend to you."

"Seems like you've been keeping tabs on me too." He chuckled lightly, still smiling. "Then you must've heard the rumors about me."

Adeline paused, not giving anything away. "I haven't looked into it."

In reality, Noah Green had already filled her in.

Adeline had never witnessed what it was like for someone to be ensnared in an intricate web of Karma.

So she tossed a stone and asked Noah, "What's that like? It must be impressive, I guess."

Noah looked at her, but it felt like he was looking through her, murmuring, "You still don't remember anything."

Adeline now recalled Noah's words and frowned.

Noah was always cryptic and never gave the full story.

He'd vanish without a trace.

Initially, Adeline took on the Livingston family's case out of curiosity about the Karma Noah mentioned.

Now, she was genuinely curious about what he looked like.

Too bad she couldn't find a single picture of him online. She could chat with him while hacking into his local network.

But that wasn't her style. He wasn't a major villain, and he was a client who had tipped her nearly half a million dollars.

Thinking of this, Adeline suddenly smiled, her eyes playful, her lips nibbling on a fruit candy. "Mr. Livingston, could you introduce yourself first and send me a photo? I pick my patients based on their looks."

The phone went silent for a moment.

Nathaniel swore he had no intention of interrupting Charles's call, but Alexander had shown up, and he had to report.

Who would've thought that as he got closer, he'd hear the girl on the other end of the phone flirting with Charles!

In the entire world, anyone who knew Charles's identity wouldn't dare to do that!

Most importantly, why wasn't Charles mad?

Nathaniel, usually composed, couldn't keep his cool and took a deep breath!
