Chapter 218 Normal Performance
Summer didn't care about what others thought.
But going to school was not something to be taken lightly.
Other things could be postponed, but knowledge was one's own.
Summer hated hearing people say that girls didn't need much education.
That money should be spent on boys, and things like that.
If Adeline could really do well this time, she might get into a good college.
Adeline hadn't even washed up yet, but Summer could already foresee her bright future.
Adeline shouldn't be stuck in this small town, enduring those past sneers.
She should go out and let more people see her!
"Adeline, listen to me. I've got the store covered, and I won't go easy on the Martinez Family either. Just focus on your exams and don't stress."
Adeline could see that Summer valued her exam a lot.
Adeline had originally planned to hold back and just get an average score.
Now, Adeline smiled, her eyes half-curved. "Don't worry. I'll perform normally."
How could Summer know that the last time Adeline performed normally, she helped someone in a lawsuit and even got the opposing lawyer sent in.
Of course, these were things she wouldn't tell her..
Summer got up early to make porridge for Adeline, paired with a sandwich.
"Take your time eating," Summer said dotingly. "I've packed everything for you. Don't ride your bike today. Take a cab, okay?"
Adeline tied up her long hair and picked up her black bag with one hand. "Got it."
Summer watched her all the way.
The neighbors all knew she had an exam today.
Vanessa ran into her and gave her a box of sliced apples and some chicken soup. "The cafeteria food isn't good at noon. Take this."
"Thanks, Vanessa." Adeline, with her long legs, walked quickly and her voice was clear. "I'll fix your light when I get back after the exam."
The neighbors smiled at her.
Everyone knew she was wronged when she was taken in.
Summer had mobility issues, so they went to the station to inquire and even wrote a joint petition.
They were all ordinary folks who would haggle over groceries and take small advantages, but when something happened, they stood together.
Especially since they genuinely liked Adeline.
If Adeline could really get into college, wouldn't they have a college student from their area?
For this exam, Adeline was the only one not worried.
Everyone else had been preparing early.
Aaron even brought Oliver to the school, asking him to help Adeline with some last-minute studying during lunch break.
The plan was to tutor her a couple of days before, but something came up.
Now they could only cram as much as possible in the remaining time.
Oliver was frustrated. "Grandpa, she really doesn't need my help."
"Shut up! You're addicted to pretending now!" Aaron glared at him. "Of all things to pretend, you pretend to be afraid of a little girl. Useless."
Oliver took a deep breath. 'I'm genuinely scared! But no one would believe me if I said it.'
He always felt that Adeline was a bit strange.
Aaron stood on tiptoe to look again, genuinely worried that Adeline would be late.
He hadn't noticed before, but after seeing her report card, he realized she had scored in the teens in every subject, hardly ever came to school, and when she did, it was in the afternoon.
Aaron was afraid that last time she had just happened to do that set of questions before, remembered them, and coincidentally scored well.
He couldn't help but feel a bit anxious.
