Chapter 215 Journey of the Heart
"I can manage on my own, especially with you and Robert around," Summer said with a smile. "I can't just stay cooped up in this small place forever while you two are out there working hard."
"I need to learn to take this step and try to interact with people." Summer's face lit up. "I'm not old yet."
"Of course, Grandma, you're still in your prime. Everything is just beginning." Adeline's voice was clear. "In the future, everyone will know that Eldoria has a Ms. Martinez who helps the world."
Summer was amused by her. "You always know how to make me happy."
"I'm not just saying it to make you happy; it's true." Adeline's eyes were deeply beautiful.
Summer told her to go take a shower.
They both tacitly avoided mentioning Henry or going into detail about today's events, pretending everything was in the past.
For Summer, the biggest blessing was that Adeline was safe.
She also heard some news from Vanessa, saying that Angela had carelessly offended a big shot this time.
Adeline had benefited from it.
Summer couldn't imagine what would have happened if Angela had succeeded. Adeline's life would have been ruined.
Summer used to think simply, living her own life.
Now she thought differently; she needed to become stronger so that Adeline wouldn't suffer any grievances.
Adeline didn't know about Summer's inner journey.
But the fact that Summer could move on from past events and re-enter the social circle was indeed a happy thing for Adeline.
So even while taking a shower, she had a smile on her face.
This good mood lasted until Charles called, and her fingers paused for a moment.
Adeline's long hair was wet, and she casually wiped it with a towel. "I've been busy all day, so I didn't reply to your messages."
It was very quiet on Charles's end, as if the air had been sucked out. Then he sighed softly, his voice as pleasant as ever, low and somewhat unfair. "I know everything that happened to you. How are you feeling? Did they give you a hard time?"
"No, everything's fine," Adeline said, biting into a fruit candy with the towel still on her head. "But your medicine might be delayed by a couple of days."
Charles's tone was a bit indifferent. "The medicine isn't important. I'm not in Eldoria right now, otherwise..."
He didn't finish the sentence.
Adeline somehow guessed that he meant something like, "Otherwise, this wouldn't have happened."
"I can handle it," she said instinctively.
Charles chuckled lightly, somewhat mockingly, as if at himself. "Yeah, you're so capable; you don't need me at all."
Was he angry?
Adeline paused her candy-biting. "Well..."
"I heard from Summer that you have an exam tomorrow." Charles changed the subject, his voice becoming magnetic and low again, as if the previous emotions had never existed. "Which subject are you struggling with?"
Adeline replied nonchalantly, "I'm struggling with all of them. Can you teach me now?"
"Sure." Charles glanced at the people around the conference table. "I just finished working overtime."
Matteo was confused, 'Do you really think we don't exist?'
Adeline thought for a moment. "Actually, I do have a question I want to ask you."
"Alright, hold on a second," Charles said, looking at the man who was still sweating coldly. "You can go now. I want to see the results by tomorrow."
