Chapter 182 I Sent It
At the banquet, Charles was constantly on his phone.
This made it hard for Alexander not to notice, knowing that Charles never had the habit of carrying his phone around.
"Whose business is so important to you?" Alexander raised an eyebrow.
Charles smiled elegantly. "It's not business; it's a friend."
As he spoke, he swiped open the screen, and his eyes suddenly deepened.
His slender fingers moved slightly, and his usually indifferent emotions showed a slight ripple.
Ultimate VIP Mr. Livingston replied: [I sent it earlier.]
A reply came quickly from the other side.
[I didn't receive it. Maybe it got lost when the account was suspended. Can you resend it?]
Resend?
Charles's thumb slowly rubbed the phone, but he didn't reply immediately.
He still remembered the feeling of frustration after sending the photo earlier.
Charles's gaze drifted to the chessboard aside, his state somewhat vacant.
Seeing this, Alexander became even more curious and was about to ask more questions.
A soft, coquettish voice came from the other side. "Grandpa, why didn't you tell me you were coming to the chamber of commerce?"
It was Holly. She was wearing a white chiffon dress, looking innocent and surprised as she entered. "Charles is here too?"
Charles's eyes were indifferent as he stood up politely. "Mr. Vanderbilt, I have something to attend to. I'll take my leave."
Alexander didn't stop him. "Go ahead, but don't forget what you promised me."
As for what it was, they didn't mention it in front of Holly.
Holly watched his departing figure, biting her thin lips, feeling a bit aggrieved. "Grandpa, does Charles not want to see me?"
"Have you ever seen him want to see anyone?" Alexander couldn't bring himself to be harsh to that face so similar to Savannah's. "Alright, come and talk to me. Have you met Adeline?"
Holly paused, her voice a bit downcast. "I have, but she doesn't seem to like me."
Alexander frowned. "What do you mean?"
Holly lowered her eyes. "I brought her some gifts, but she said the Vanderbilt Family isn't worthy of her treatment. This is all Jade's fault, but Jade has already apologized, and she still won't let it go. I had no choice but to return to the hotel."
Alexander listened, instinctively not believing it. "Adeline wouldn't act like that."
"I'll visit her myself another day." Alexander's voice deepened as he spoke.
Holly didn't expect Adeline to be so important in Alexander's eyes.
She had even thought about complaining to Alexander just now.
After all, Alexander usually doted on her the most.
Fortunately, she didn't say anything.
While feeling relieved, Holly also felt a bit jealous. "Grandpa, you think so highly of her. I haven't seen you in so long, and you haven't praised me."
"She just has a likable presence." Alexander laughed. "You are indeed smart, but compared to Adeline, you still have some shortcomings. Once you spend more time with her, you'll understand. Holly, you must remember, there's always someone better out there. Don't underestimate people from humble backgrounds; they are the ones with real talent."
Holly forced a smile and said, "Yes."
Her hand on the side had already dug her nails into her flesh.
What was Alexander thinking, comparing her to Adeline?
