Chapter 248 Escape from the Village
Adeline didn't pay attention to his expression and directly pulled him, her voice calm. "It might hurt a bit, bear with it."
She didn't wait for Lorenzo to look over.
Adeline reattached his broken arm.
Lorenzo's brow furrowed, and cold sweat broke out.
Adeline glanced at him and couldn't help but admire his endurance.
Being a soldier really made a difference; in this environment, an ordinary person would have been done for.
Even if he wasn't worn out, without medication, the wound on his shoulder would cause a persistent high fever.
In fact, Lorenzo's body temperature was already too high, but he was so determined that with just a bit of support from Adeline, he managed to get out of the cellar.
After Lorenzo came out, the first thing he noticed wasn't Cadence.
It was the little girl lying next to the cellar.
He could have escaped with Cadence.
But when he was leaving the village, he met her and gave her a bag of chocolate beans.
If she had been an adult, he would have made sure she couldn't reveal their whereabouts.
But she was not even six years old, and her smiling face was so innocent.
It reminded him of Savannah.
He couldn't bring himself to harm her, and in the end, they were surrounded by villagers at the mountain stream.
Adeline saw him staring at the little girl and raised an eyebrow. "What? You know her?"
"Had a bad experience." Lorenzo's voice was deep.
The Vanderbilt Family had always been upright.
Even knowing human nature, it was hard for him to accept that such a young girl had been turned into a monster by the village's customs.
Adeline glanced at her watch and suddenly pursed her lips. "The villagers are quite wealthy. Looks like we need to leave quickly. There's no signal here, and her family will come looking for her if they can't reach her."
"There are guards at the village entrance." Lorenzo was smart; he understood her meaning immediately.
Moreover, the villagers' previous actions were still fresh in his mind.
Every family here was exceptionally united.
But this unity was for evil.
"No worries, we have a special pass." Adeline suddenly smiled.
Before Lorenzo could understand what she meant, she dragged Harvey out of the house and threw him into the trunk of the Mercedes.
Lorenzo had seen Harvey before, and his eyes darkened. "He's no good either."
"His identity is useful," Adeline said, looking at Cadence. "Do you trust me?"
Cadence nodded vigorously!
Adeline took Cadence's child out, her long legs against the car door. "Sit in the back and act like two women serving one man."
Cadence's face turned pale, and she hadn't reacted yet.
Adeline had already pushed Amara into the driver's seat, her voice very low. "The Spencer Family is so wealthy; you should know how to drive, right?"
Amara couldn't understand what Adeline was thinking, and she stammered, "I can."
"Then drive well." Adeline sat next to her and smiled. "Don't be nervous; show the same attitude you had when you looked down on me earlier."
Amara opened her mouth. "I was wrong. I don't know anything. It was all Jessica's doing; she wanted to trick you. Our Spencer Family never forces anyone."
Adeline interrupted her, her voice smiling, "Everyone wants to marry into your Spencer Family. Perform well, or you might see my bad temper."
Amara shivered. "Okay, I'll!"
"Chin up; act arrogant. That's right." Adeline tapped her fingers. "Alright, let's go."
