Chapter 61 Quite Interesting

Adeline stood tall and graceful. "Yep, it's Reishi mushroom. You gotta keep it away from strong light and below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Right now, it's like 75.2 degrees in here with crazy UV exposure. I put it in the bag to keep its medicinal value intact. Seriously, the Cooper family can't be that clueless about basic medical stuff, right?"

The room buzzed with chatter as soon as she said that!

Matthew was still sneering. "You're talking non..."

"Matthew, shut up!" Sara snapped!

Matthew was stunned. He turned to look at his aunt's face, then glanced around at everyone staring at him.

Panic flashed across his face.

Could Adeline be right?

"After all, she's a student of Summer; she's got some talent with herbs." Peter Carter from the Carter Family chuckled from his corner. He looked at his grandson David and said, "Learn from her."

David, all humble and classy, replied, "Yes, Grandpa."

Elijah, though, stayed indifferent. "Peter, you're overdoing it. She just got lucky."

"Exactly!" Matthew jumped in. "I didn't think of that at the moment. Adeline really knows how to play it!"

Elijah's comment was subtle and on point.

But with Matthew's addition, he just proved his own stupidity, making some folks laugh.

Sara wished she could run up and shut Matthew's mouth herself!

Matthew still didn't get it. Hearing the laughter, he got more and more pissed and suddenly glared. "Who is that? You dare to laugh at me to my face?"

"Me." Tessa raised her hand, full of sass.

Matthew was stunned again; Tessa was from the Livingston family.

Tessa didn't even look at him. She walked past him and went to Adeline.

"The Livingston family has prepared gifts, hoping everyone enjoys themselves," Tessa said clearly. "If no one takes them, I'd think you all are dissing the Livingston family's offerings."

"Well..." At this point, everyone except Adeline wanted to explain!

Tessa raised her hand. "But it's cool; someone likes it. I also gotta thank Ms. Vanderbilt for the Reishi mushroom storage tip."

Tessa thought, 'Too bad Nicholas didn't come down. It'd be awesome to meet such an interesting person. Who knows who Nicholas is waiting for?'

Adeline stayed composed. "Ms. Livingston, you're too kind. It's just a doctor's instinct."

"Great." Tessa liked Adeline's vibe. "This time, the Livingston family invited you all here, first for a medical exchange, and second for my frail and sickly brother."

As Tessa spoke, she glanced around. "It's getting late. I won't keep you any longer!"

"What do you mean?" Oscar asked. 'Are we really treating patients? I didn't know how!'

Tessa tapped the table. "The Livingston family has three special patients, each with different symptoms. You need to go upstairs one by one according to the order number to diagnose them."

"Aren't we here to treat Mr. Livingston? Why is it someone else now?" Harold frowned.

Tessa glanced at him, her tone icy. "Do you think you can see the Livingston family members just because you want to?"

Harold had never been so humiliated; his face turned cold.

Tessa smiled again. "My brother has high standards and is a germaphobe. He likes to see pleasing things. Please don't mind."

Adeline raised an eyebrow at this; the Livingston family was indeed interesting.
