Chapter 54 The Tables Turn
The bodyguards shot each other a look and then, all polite-like, said, "Can we see your invite?"
Adeline already had a hunch something was off with this whole invitation thing.
But she wasn't sweating it. Worst case, she'd just drop the bomb that she's the miracle doctor.
She casually pulled out the gold-embossed invite from her black bag and handed it over.
And just like that, the bodyguards' faces went pale!
Seeing their reactions, the crowd started whispering, "Is there really something wrong with her invite?"
James, fuming, chimed in, "Summer screws up a diagnosis, and now her student’s a fraud too? What a joke!"
Sara, smirking, added, "If you really wanted in, you could've just asked us. No need for shady moves."
The crowd chimed in, "Yeah, this is so cringe!"
"Is this how Summer trains her students? Yikes!"
Adeline couldn't care less about their trash talk. She lazily cracked her neck, a sly smile playing on her lips. She was just about to flash her miracle doctor account.
But then, the two bodyguards in front of her suddenly bowed at a perfect ninety degrees, their voices booming, "Please come in!"
The whole place went dead silent!
The bodyguards' actions were like a silent slap in the face, especially for Sara!
One of the bodyguards added, "This is your first time here, right? If you need anything, just ask. Follow me, please."
The other bodyguard, still clutching the invite, was sweating bullets.
The bodyguards had saw many invites today, but a gold-embossed one? only the Livingston family knew what that meant!
Judging by the handwriting, it might've even been written by Charles himself!
The bodyguards had no clue who Adeline was, but they knew if they didn't let her in, Charles might have their heads!
This twist left everyone, including Adeline, totally floored.
"Hold up." Adeline didn't move right away.
The bodyguard, looking nervous, asked, "Did we mess up? Just tell us, and we'll fix it right away."
"Yeah, we'll fix it right away!" The other bodyguard snapped to attention.
Adeline raised an eyebrow and glanced back at Sara.
Sara looked like she'd seen a ghost, her eyes glued to the invite in disbelief!
Adeline knew Sara wouldn't have given them a legit invite. Something unexpected must've gone down.
Could it be him?
Adeline immediately thought of Charles.
It had to be Charles. With the Vanderbilt family's pull, getting a Livingston family invite would be a piece of cake.
Adeline smiled, thinking she'd have to thank Charles properly later.
"No need. You guys did great." Adeline bent her long legs slightly. "I'll grab my bag."
The bodyguard quickly said, "We'll handle that!"
Their eagerness was completely different from before.
Everyone else was left speechless and shocked.
Everyone knew the Livingston family was super exclusive; even their bodyguards were ex-military. Seeing them treat a young girl with such respect? That was wild!
