Chapter 125 She's Not Simple
"And Adeline's live stream is blowing up. Wanna check it out?"
Angela cut her off, "Bethany, I get that your family's tight with Summer, but I don't wanna hear a word about them."
She grabbed her bag and stormed off, like being near Adeline made her sick.
Julia nudged Bethany. "Why'd you bring that up?"
Bethany pouted. "I was just trying to remind her not to screw things up for herself, but she didn't appreciate it."
Adeline wasn't just anyone.
She could make headlines just by starting a livestream.
Did Angela not think about this? She was really clueless.
Angela got into the car, fuming. "Adeline's embarrassing me again. Of all things, she becomes a streamer! How's that different from begging online? She's just a disgrace!"
Henry shut the car door, looking grim.
Angela noticed. "What's up with you?"
In private, Henry let his frustration show. "I don't know what's up with Aetheris Group, but they didn't pick us for the partnership."
"How could that be?" Angela said, trying to stay calm. "Should we try to pull some strings in Zelphoria?"
Henry stubbed out his cigarette. "Not yet. Their second-in-command, Jason, is here. I'll find a chance to visit him."
"Alright." Angela didn't dare contact the Jones family; things were too chaotic there.
Henry asked, "You mentioned Stella had a way into the Livingston Mansion. How?"
Angela got angry. "I went with Stella, but they didn't let us in. The person in charge said Whispering Fern had already been returned to its rightful owner. Your mom didn't even mention it when she took it back, just kept causing trouble with Adeline!"
"Enough," Henry cut her off. "We did raise her. Don't make things too tense. Did you find out what Whispering Fern is for?"
Angela leaned in. "Stella said it has extraordinary medical value, especially for terminal illnesses."
"I see," Henry said, getting an idea. "If Summer wants to take care of Adeline, let her. Stop interfering."
Angela scoffed. "I don't have time to deal with Summer. If you don't mind them embarrassing you with their livestreams, fine. But if the business community starts laughing at you, that's on you."
Henry frowned.
Livestreaming definitely needed to be controlled!
Given his status in Eldoria, it would be a joke if word got out.
With that in mind, Henry decided to go to Chrysanthemum Alley himself!
At dusk, Summer had been busy in the clinic all afternoon and was about to rest.
A familiar voice came from the door. "Mom."
Summer's face changed. "What are you doing here?"
Henry hadn't shown up for almost half a year. He looked around the shabby massage parlor and was surprised. "Mom, did you remodel the place?"
Summer's eyes were calm. "That's none of your business."
"Mom, I'm your son. How can it not be my business?" Henry placed the nutritional supplements he bought on the ground. "I heard you started some kind of livestream. Mom, why are you doing that? It's so embarrassing."
Summer took a deep breath. "I don't know what you mean by embarrassing. I just know it makes money and supports me. Are you done talking? If so, get out."
