Chapter 201 Cooperating with the Investigation
Henry saw the situation and almost dropped the phone from his hand.
What on earth happened to bring both the Bureau of Commerce and the police here?
He forced himself to stay calm and stepped forward. "Sir, ..."
The police ignored him and directly showed their badges to Angela.
"Are you Angela?"
"Yes."
"We need you to cooperate with an investigation. Please come with us."
Angela thought they were referring to the Adeline matter. Ernest had mentioned before that someone would definitely come to see her as part of the process.
So she wasn't worried and even felt relaxed. "Mr. Sullivan sent you, right? Come in and have a cup of tea first. You've worked hard on this case. If it weren't for you..."
"Discuss the case at the station," the officer said sternly. "You have the right to remain silent now."
Angela then realized something was wrong. "Are you from the Starhaven District Police Station?"
The officer neither confirmed nor denied it, just proceeded to take her away.
Angela panicked and looked back at Henry.
Henry was already being stopped by the Bureau of Commerce officials. "We need to check some accounts."
At first, Angela didn't think much of it. With Ernest around, everything would be fine.
But once she was actually in the police car, she realized something was very wrong.
This wasn't like what was agreed upon, notifying her to bail someone out. It felt more like she was a suspect!
Angela's heart sank, and she shouted, "I want to see Mr. Sullivan. I need a lawyer."
The car door had already closed.
Right in the center of the business district, in broad daylight, she was taken away from the Martinez Group and put into a police car.
In the high-end office building, it wasn't just the Martinez Group; the Martinez Group's partners were also there.
The news of Angela's arrest spread within three minutes!
In the large office building, more than twenty companies of various sizes were talking about it.
The internet spread the news quickly, especially gossip.
Henry hadn't even finished dealing with the Bureau of Commerce when the partner companies started calling, questioning if there were any risk issues.
Even the investors they had previously contacted were calling.
"Mr. Martinez, there's no need to hide it from us anymore. The whole business circle in Eldoria knows Mrs. Martinez was taken away."
"What exactly happened?"
Henry's eyes darted around, recalling what Angela had said before, and he quickly responded, "My wife has no issues herself; you can rest assured. It's all because of our former foster daughter, who insisted on doing medical live streams and got arrested. My wife is just cooperating with the investigation."
"Yes, there's no risk. You can be assured of that. I guarantee it."
"We have no ties with her anymore. Yes, she can't affect us."
"Of course, once there's a result, our company will issue a statement immediately. Rest assured."
This explanation temporarily appeased some smaller companies.
But the Bureau of Commerce kept digging and wouldn't let up.
The Martinez Group already had internal issues, and Henry was very worried they would uncover something. He couldn't even focus on Angela's situation, only instructing the lawyer to follow her.
They were still somewhat confident. At worst, Adeline would be pushed to the edge, and she would expose the Martinez Group.
But with Ernest around, everything could be settled.
The real issue was how to avoid the Bureau of Commerce.
Henry was full of calculations but didn't expect Angela to panic as soon as she arrived at the station.
None of the people she knew were there.
That was one thing, but the key point was why the officer she knew was handcuffed in the interrogation room!
