Chapter 33 The Hacker Boy
Summer was totally floored.
She muttered a few words, suddenly realizing Adeline had totally derailed the convo. Weren't they supposed to be talking about studying? How did it turn into a candy chat?
She quickly grabbed Adeline's hand and got back on track. "You gotta hit the books hard. I heard Stella, the one they brought back, is a brainiac. You gonna let her outshine you?"
"Summer, Stella's your real granddaughter. She's got your smarts," Adeline chuckled.
Summer gave Adeline a playful poke on the forehead. "So, what's the game plan for your future?"
"I'll make some cash and won't starve," Adeline said, helping Summer with her shoes and socks. "Hey Robert, grab the medicine bucket."
Robert jumped to it. He hoisted the bucket, dashed to fill it with water, and sprinted back.
The kid was like a ball of energy.
Adeline was used to it.
Summer laughed, "The other day, the neighbors were moving a statue and couldn't budge it. He lifted it like it was nothing, didn't even break a sweat."
Adeline glanced at Robert and smiled.
"He's young; it's normal to be strong," Adeline laughed.
Summer sighed, "His strength is off the charts. The neighbors were freaked out."
"Did you hear that? Be careful," Adeline said casually.
Robert nodded.
Summer sighed again, "You're distracting me again. I'm telling you, getting into Innovative Health Middle School is no joke. Maybe I can..."
"Summer," Adeline cut in with a smile. "No need. I got this."
She was raised by Summer, and Summer knew her well. She had a plan.
Summer knew it was pointless and decided to dig up more info over the weekend.
Adeline slipped out after Summer dozed off.
Robert was waiting outside, making some hand gestures.
"Got it," Adeline said coolly. "You should rest too. I'll find Whispering Fern and the book."
Adeline's eyes turned icy. "It's fall. Let's bankrupt the Cooper and Jones families." Robert's eyes lit up with excitement.
He patted his face, his hand gestures flying, and grinned.
Adeline watched and chuckled. "It's been a while since I let you loose.
"Go ahead. I want all the dirt on the Cooper family's shady deals in three days and make them cough up the cash they swindled. As for the Jones family, you figure it out."
Robert nodded and walked off with a notebook.
Who would've thought an eleven-year-old mute kid was the hacker AlphaX-47, the one who crashed the whole banking system three years ago?
Robert was ditched by his family young. He didn't even know right from wrong when Summer took him in. Since then, Adeline had taken on the job of teaching him.
Robert was pretty much raised by Adeline.
He wasn't a good kid in the usual sense.
People said kids were pure and innocent, to put it simply, it just meant they didn't know right from wrong yet and had to learn it as they grew up.
But human nature was tough to change.
Even under Adeline's guidance, Robert seemed innocent, helping Summer with chores every day.
But in reality, he was still a ruthless little punk. Anyone who caught his eye always ended up with some bad luck.
