Chapter 49 The Fake Miracle Doctor
Robert slid a piece of paper across the table.
"You mean she used Whispering Fern to treat Mr. Livingston?" Adeline's eyes narrowed a bit.
Robert nodded like his life depended on it.
Adeline propped her chin up, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Well, let's see how she works her magic with Whispering Fern right in front of me."
Adeline tapped a name on the list and smirked. "Time to shake things up in Eldoria."
For ages, the Cooper family had the academic scene in Eldoria on lockdown.
No cash? Good luck getting an internship at a hospital, no matter how talented you are.
Even if you had money, you had to kiss the Cooper family's ring to get anywhere.
They scammed patients for cash, crushed newcomers, and played dirty to keep the perks flowing their way.
Adeline knew the medical world was all about cliques and family ties.
She didn't care how deep the corruption ran; she was ready to clean house.
She wanted the sick to get treated and the talented to have a shot.
Adeline looked up and ordered, "Find out if Grandma's so-called patient death incident was the Cooper family's doing."
Robert's eyes flared with anger as he gestured, "Grandma would never kill a patient! She was set up!"
"I think so." Adeline stood, her eyes icy. "But we need proof to shut everyone up."
Robert nodded, understanding.
Adeline picked up the invitation on the table. "I turned this down at first, but now that it's back, I'll go and give the Cooper family a piece of my mind."
Robert got all fired up again!
He was about to say something when Summer barged in. "What are you two plotting in the storage room?"
"Robert's got a bunch of parts to put together," Adeline said coolly.
Robert nodded like a bobblehead!
Summer smiled but sighed when she saw the invite in Adeline's hand. "Adeline, you really going?"
"The invite's here; no reason not to." Adeline's face showed zero fear.
Summer looked at Adeline, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
She couldn't let her own issues hold Adeline back forever.
Now that Adeline was into healing and saving lives, she had to let her go.
"If you wanna go, then go." Summer's warm hand rested on Adeline's head. "It's good to see the world. You'll make friends, and if you meet any famous docs, snap a pic for me, especially that miracle doc everyone's talking about!"
Summer got all excited. "If you meet him, it'll be worth it!"
"Who?" Adeline asked, not really caring.
Summer whipped out her phone, opened a page, and zoomed in. "The legendary miracle doctor!"
Adeline was speechless. 'Seriously? Miracle doctor?'
Robert looked at the photo, eyes wide.
He glanced at Adeline, then at the webpage, his eyes darting around.
Adeline pressed her finger on the screen, took a deep breath, and smiled lightly. "Grandma, you sure this guy's a miracle doctor?"
