Chapter 296 They Are Sweet
When Charles arrived, this was the scene he saw.
Adeline didn't look like she was there to buy groceries; she seemed more like she was offering free health check-ups at the market.
She was the most beloved person among the elderly that he had ever seen.
He had tried to use his connections to help her, but it wasn't until he returned to Eldoria that he realized Adeline even knew Louis. She didn't need his connections at all.
Charles fiddled with his bracelet, his eyes deep and thoughtful.
Adeline hadn't noticed him yet; she was holding a basket in one hand and giving someone a check-up with the other.
Suddenly, her hand was empty.
She turned around and saw Charles' handsome face. This time, he wasn't wearing glasses, so he didn't look as cold and intimidating. It was clear he was trying to minimize his presence.
He used to always wear a sharp suit, but today he was in a trench coat.
Still, as soon as he appeared, he was surrounded.
"Adeline, is this the boyfriend your grandma mentioned? He's so handsome!"
"They look great together!"
Charles was naturally very likable, tall, and had a great demeanor.
This made some of the guys in the alley who had a crush on Adeline feel inferior.
Especially Cecil Marshall, the fish seller, who wanted to chat with Adeline a bit more. At that moment, his face turned bright red in embarrassment.
Charles didn't need to look to know what Cecil's gaze meant, but he didn't embarrass him. He smiled lightly as he took the fish from Cecil's hand and said, "Thank you, how much?"
He just wanted to help Adeline carry some of the weight, momentarily forgetting about his own allergies.
He was about to pay when Adeline, quick to react, stopped his hand. "Mr. Livingston, just stay put. You're too precious to get hurt."
Charles smiled lightly, looking very obedient. "Okay."
The bodyguards who came along were shocked!
The last time Charles dealt with someone, his hands were covered in blood, and he didn't even blink. What was going on now?
At least they wouldn't have to park the car far away every time.
Did this mean Charles and Adeline were officially together?
The bodyguards exchanged glances.
Adeline was busy picking out various ingredients, and Charles followed behind her.
"Do you eat white radish?" Adeline tilted her head.
Charles looked at her long hair. "It tastes bland."
"Winter melon?" Adeline asked again.
Charles's voice was faint. "It has a terrible texture."
"What about carrots?" Adeline squinted.
Charles thought for a moment and frowned. "It tastes kind of weird."
Adeline avoided the ones he didn't eat and picked a few green vegetables.
He had never refused the nutritious food she made before.
The two of them bought groceries and went back, and the house was still buzzing with conversation.
Nathan wanted to help, but Adeline didn't let him. "No, thank you. Robert, start the fire."
Robert arrived.
Adeline glanced at him. "Did you take the money?"
Robert nodded and pointed at Charles.
Adeline raised an eyebrow. "He's so dangerous, and you still dared to take his money."
Robert gestured.
Adeline pinched his face, looked at his teeth, and her eyes deepened. "Alright, return the money. You've been too greedy lately, not good."
Robert was unconditionally obedient to Adeline.
He returned the money as told, then started chopping wood, his strength seemingly endless.
Adeline looked at his face, her eyes flickering with the firelight, lost in thought.
In addition to her own reasons for being in such a hurry to get to Zelphoria, Robert had been away for so long that it was time for him to return as well.
At this moment, as night fell over Zelphoria, a man received a surprising piece of news.
"What did you say?"
