Chapter 11 She is Notorious

Kenneth pointed at this swanky sedan not too far off. The window rolled down real slow, showing off someone inside. This person had that whole elegant vibe going on, like they were someone important.

The person inside the car let out a couple of soft coughs. Even though it was just a tiny sound, it made him seem kinda fragile and pitiful.

Adeline, being a doctor and all, couldn’t see the person in the car, but she could totally catch the faint whiff of medicine coming from inside. Even though they tried to cover it up, her sharp nose, trained from years of dealing with herbs, picked it up right away.

Looked like Charles had been sick for a while.

The person in the car didn’t get out and meet Adeline. Kenneth, standing nearby, handed her a card. “Thanks for saving Ian. Here’s a little something to show our appreciation. Please take it.”

Adeline grinned and asked, “How do you know my last name? Seems like you know me.” She smirked. “Your attitude doesn’t really scream ‘thank you’; it’s more like you’re trying to keep your distance.”

‘Yep, you nailed it. But that’s not something I’m gonna say out loud,’ Kenneth thought but kept it to himself. He just shook his head slightly. “You got it wrong.”

She shrugged and said, “Whatever, I gotta bounce. Let him know later so he doesn’t get all upset.”

Kenneth let out a sigh of relief.

Adeline pushed her shared bike, her figure bathed in the sunset glow.

Sitting in the Maybach, Charles glanced sideways, catching a glimpse of her. He gently patted Ian’s head and asked with a hint of a smile, “Is that the person who saved you?”

Ian looked out of the car, panicking. “Why did she leave? Kenneth!”

Kenneth walked over and bent down. “Ian.”

“I didn’t get her contact info yet. She said she’d wait for me,” Ian’s eyes darkened, and he coldly questioned, “Did you drive her away?”

Kenneth’s body shook.

In Zelphoria, no one dared to mess with Ian.

Unlike other kids, even though he was just four, he was a pro at hiding his feelings and had a cold personality, making everyone around him scared.

He never got close to anyone; he only behaved when Charles was around.

So seeing Ian’s interaction with Adeline, Kenneth was shocked.

But doing his job, Kenneth lowered his head and explained, “Ian, Ms. Vanderbilt has a bad rep. I was worried she had bad intentions getting close to you, so…”

Charles sighed deeply and adjusted Ian’s face with his fingers. “You don’t need to worry about my business, got it? What you should do now is think about why you got lost.”

With that, Charles signaled the driver to start the car.

In the mirror, a handsome face slowly appeared, with a high nose bridge, pale skin, and faint lip color, giving off a mysterious, sickly beauty vibe. Such a face must be well-known in Zelphoria as the CEO of the Livingston family.

“Ian,” Charles in the back seat interrupted Ian. He sat there, looking sharp in a black suit, with a string of rubies on his wrist, exuding coldness and nobility. “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Ian knew Charles was mad, so he pressed his lips tightly and threw himself into Charles’s arms, whispering, “She’s definitely not a bad person. Our meeting was just a coincidence. I suddenly fainted from heatstroke. Without her, even if I wasn’t kidnapped by bad people, I would’ve died by the roadside.”

He had gone to great lengths to act all pitiful and obedient in front of Adeline. Now, it was all for nothing. When would he be able to find a mistress for the Livingston family!
