No one doubted whether Adeline was genuine; instead, they couldn't help but focus their gaze on her.
From entering the courtyard to the study, she was poised and graceful, with clear and elegant features, truly beautiful.
Adeline didn't expect that just her appearance would garner such goodwill. What she was most worried about now was how much poison had entered.
The door to the study opened.
Alexander immediately stood up, unable to hide the smile on his face. "Savannah, let me see you, are you cold? I said I'd send a car to pick you up, but Charles said it would be safer if he sent one. Where's your grandmother?"
"Grandma will come another day," Adeline said, placing her hand directly on his wrist. "Grandpa, how are you feeling now?"
Alexander didn't feel much. "Maybe I was just too angry earlier."
Adeline paused for a moment, then opened her black bag, took out a silver needle, and inserted it into the detoxification point.
The needle went in 9 inches, and all 9 inches turned black.
Seeing this, Adeline's eyes darkened.
Alexander was even more stunned. "Savannah, am I poisoned?"
"Yes, it's accumulated bit by bit," Adeline said as she put away the silver needle and opened a long box to take out some herbs. "Terry, have someone boil these, but only use the stems and leaves, the roots are poisonous."
Terry didn't know what it was.
A doctor who had come in was fortunate enough to recognize it. "Whispering Fern! This is a live Whispering Fern!"
Even a dried Whispering Fern was rare, and Adeline brought a freshly picked one?
He asked, "Are you really going to boil this?"
Adeline nodded, not too concerned.
Seeing the doctor's reaction, Alexander knew the herb was extraordinary and asked about it.
The doctor smiled. "Mr. Vanderbilt, you are truly fortunate to have such a devoted granddaughter. This Whispering Fern is only available from The Zephyrox Alliance, starting at $7 million per plant, auctioned once every five years. It can cure diseases that ordinary medicine cannot. I never expected Ms. Vanderbilt to bring out a Whispering Fern."
Alexander immediately looked at Adeline. "Adeline, you should keep such herbs for yourself. Using it just to detoxify me is too wasteful, I can't accept it."
"Grandpa, this will detoxify you quickly," Adeline coaxed him. "Besides, it's just an herb, not as exaggerated as they say. The Zephyrox Alliance is inflating the price; it's not that scarce."
She could just grow more.
Whispering Fern was indeed hard to cultivate.
But it was not extinct.
Alexander laughed. "Only you would dare say The Zephyrox Alliance is inflating prices. Be careful in the future; even I, an outsider, know that The Zephyrox Alliance is a big deal in the medical world."
"It's just okay," Adeline mumbled, changing the subject. "Grandpa, let's eat first."
Alexander was pleased. "Alright, let's eat first. Terry, go get the things I bought for Savannah."
"Grandpa, you bought more things?" Adeline instinctively checked her phone; there were no orders on ShadowNet Syndicate.
Alexander patted her hand. "It's inconvenient for you to come and go, so I bought you a few cars."
"A few?" Adeline felt something was off.
Alexander cleared his throat. "Not that many, let's eat!"
Alexander never used to feel this way.
Now he just liked buying things for Savannah.
This car looked nice; the online viewers said it was beautiful, just a bit expensive, costing tens of thousands of dollars.
Alexander only saw the first part of the comment and immediately called to order the car.
Adeline looked at him, knowing it was his way of showing care, and smiled as she took the keys. "Grandpa, you thought of everything. Grandma has trouble walking, and I just needed a car."
"I knew you'd like it!" Alexander was delighted, feeling much better and breathing easier after the detoxification.
Everything was fine.
Until Adeline walked into the hall and saw the water lily pond on the west side, her eyes suddenly narrowed.
This layout, something was not right.
