Chapter 233 Investigating Ancestry

Leroy nudged Jessica.

Jessica didn't continue speaking, but her eyes reddened even more, clearly indicating that things at home were not smooth.

Summer felt uncomfortable listening and turned to look at Adeline.

Who knew what she was thinking, her fingers rhythmically tapping on the table, one tap after another.

After dinner, Summer wanted the two to stay over.

They shook their heads, saying they had already found a hotel nearby.

Before leaving, they left the package with Adeline.

Summer thought it over and couldn't even focus on the TV show. "Samuel is seriously ill."

"Sounds like it." Adeline twirled the cup with her fingers, a habitual action when she was thinking.

Summer sat up straight. "Let's take a trip to Ravenwood Town; it's time to see him."

"Okay." Adeline smiled gracefully. "You're right; it's time to see him."

Even their birth certificates were in the package; not sure if they were careless or just sloppy.

Whatever it was, she needed to figure out her own background.

Back then, the internet wasn't developed, and with Ravenwood Town rarely having people come out to work, her search only led to the clinic, nothing deeper.

Thinking carefully, this Ravenwood Town was indeed unusual.

It was a place even the ShadowNet Syndicate couldn't figure it out. Adeline smirked. "I'll call them back in a bit."

Summer didn't suspect anything, stroking her hair. "Adeline, you will have parents to love you in the future."

Back then, Angela got pregnant as a mistress and went to Ravenwood Town to give birth.

That landslide was a major disaster, still traceable today.

Summer sighed. "When your mom thanked me, I really didn't know what to say. The Martinez Family didn't treat you well."

"Having you is enough." Adeline leaned her head on Summer's shoulder, obedient and sweet.

Robert, who had just returned, saw this and wanted to join in.

Summer smiled indulgently.

Adeline didn't spoil Robert. "I'm going on a trip tomorrow. You stay and keep Grandma company."

Robert frowned.

Summer spoke up, "No, we're all going together."

"Grandma, it's been raining in the mountains lately; your leg will definitely hurt," Adeline coaxed her. "Then I'll have to take care of you."

If it were anything else, Summer would have argued.

But when it came to care, Summer thought it over. "You can't go alone. Robert will go with you."

"If he goes, the village won't have enough food for him." Adeline glanced at Robert.

Robert hung his head, lost in thought.

Adeline hinted, "The Lumina Vitae Foundation is popular now. To avoid any more reports, you need to stay home and take care of Grandma."

Only then did Robert pat his little chest, meaning "Leave it to me, don't worry!"

After they had made their plans, Adeline called Jessica.

They seemed a bit incredulous. "You can really come back with us?"

"Just a trip to check on Samuel's illness," Adeline said naturally.

Jessica cried tears of joy. "I knew it, you both care about each other. Samuel will be so happy to hear this! Leroy, hurry, call Samuel!"

Adeline listened to the busy sounds on the other end, her beautiful face bathed in light and shadow, revealing no expression, but her voice carried a smile. "You guys get some rest. See you tomorrow."

"Okay! See you tomorrow!"

Jessica was excited one moment.

The next, after hanging up, her face changed.

"She's really hard to deal with!"
