Chapter 159 There's Something Wrong with the Blood

Inside the pharmacy, Adeline was fiddling with the amethyst pendant she got from Charles. She seemed off today.

It wasn't just her manic energy; it was also this familiar amethyst.

In her memory, this should be hers. How did it end up as his pendant?

It was all too much for Adeline. She rubbed her temples, her eyes flickering.

She could remember some things now, but mostly in fragmented images.

Looked like she'd have to wait. Adeline re-hung the amethyst pendant, her fingers brushing her lips. What was in Charles's blood that made her act so strangely?

Adeline's medical skills were honed by experimenting on herself, specifically, by testing effective medications and harmful substances on herself.

Moreover, she also grew Whispering Fern.

Logically, she should be immune to all poisons by now.

Unless the blood was more than just poison.

Adeline's slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, and then her thin lips curved slightly. "Interesting."

Adeline lowered her gaze and reorganized the treatment plan once more.

Meanwhile, Angela, who had been driven away, was still unwilling to give up.

She sat in the car, pounding the steering wheel repeatedly, her eyes filled with malice. "I told you we shouldn't have kept her around. Look at her now; she won't stop until she ruins our family!"

Henry's back still hurt, and there was a moment of confusion in his eyes.

No matter what he did before, Summer wouldn't ignore him, even if she was angry.

But just now, Summer didn't show any concern for him at all.

"I'm talking to you! Say something!" Angela twisted his arm. "What are you daydreaming about?"

Henry frowned. "Don't you think Summer is acting strange?"

"She's tougher than before." Angela sneered. "Now that her livestream is doing well, she doesn't care about us anymore. It's really something!"

The more Henry listened, the more annoyed he became. "That's my mom you're talking about! I've told you before, don't go too far! You didn't listen and insisted on sending Summer back to the alley!"

"You said I'm going too far?" Angela's face turned red with anger. "Your mom was so high and mighty back then. Even when she got older, she wouldn't let you into the company, saying you were clueless about management and would ruin the Martinez Group. If she hadn't gotten busted for malpractice, who knows how stuck-up she'd still be? You wouldn't be living the high life now, that's for sure!"

Henry waved his hand. "Why do you keep bringing up the past?"

"I bring it up so you don't forget. You agreed to let Summer leave back then too." Angela's smile was cold. "If she hadn't made some sacrifices, would others have spared the Martinez Group?"

Angela then laughed again. "How could I forget? It's funny an old lady who killed someone with her medical practice is doing livestreams."

She then took out her phone to make a call.

Henry stopped her, looking a bit weary. "Forget it. The person who came to see Adeline today seems like a handful. I couldn't figure out who he was, but he is dangerous."

"What kind of friends could Adeline have?" Angela scoffed. "If he was really important, he would've driven here. When we left the alley, there were no cars parked at the entrance. He's probably some poor guy, not a single branded item on him."
