Chapter 1013
At this moment, a cold laugh came from the stairway.
Grant looked up, and it was Celine standing there.
Celine came downstairs, her tone filled with disbelief, "Alexander really lowered himself to do these things?"
"Pursuing someone you like, what shameless thing wouldn't you do? When I was pursuing you, didn't I wait at your door every day?" Grant said, feeling a pang of sadness.
Celine was born into a family of doctors, and Grant was a businessman, though he made his fortune in the medical field. But Celine's family didn't want her to be with him; they wanted her to marry someone who also studied medicine.
In the end, Celine was successfully pursued by Grant.
"It's different!" Celine sat down.
Just then, Celine's phone rang.
It was a video call from Elizabeth.
She must have heard about what happened outside earlier and was worried.
Celine answered the call, and Elizabeth was eating, taking a break to make a video call.
"I heard you guys got bullied today?" Elizabeth glanced at the phone screen.
Celine replied, "Then you must have heard that Alexander helped us out."
Elizabeth smiled, "I know."
Celine said, "He's really persistent. I can't get rid of him."
"Really?" Elizabeth was indifferent.
Celine sighed, "If he follows us around every day, I can't handle it."
Elizabeth's smile deepened, "Got it, I'll tell him not to bother you guys too much. But, what I say might not work."
Celine said, "From what I can tell, he'll be back tomorrow."
"Isn't that great? He'll make your place more lively." Elizabeth's eyes sparkled with amusement.
Celine couldn't understand why she was smiling.
"Are you happy? The person you used to like the most is now pursuing you like this."
Elizabeth pouted, "Of course I'm happy. Grandma, don't you think there's a strange sense of satisfaction in this?"
Celine indicated she didn't understand.
"He used to be cold to you guys, not visiting for years. Now he's following you around, trying to please you. And that's Alexander."
Celine snorted, "I don't care if he's Alexander or not, I only care if he's good to you. I only care if he's someone you can trust with your life! Do you understand?"
Elizabeth couldn't smile anymore.
The food in her mouth suddenly lost its flavor.
Celine was always thinking about Elizabeth.
Elizabeth pursed her lips, nodded, her smile gone, her expression serious, "Grandma, I understand."
"Alright, I won't nag you anymore. Come over early tomorrow." Celine said and then hung up the video call.
Elizabeth sat in her chair, sighing deeply.
She threw her lunchbox into the trash, got up, and went to the window, drinking water and looking at the sun overhead.
"Who cares if he's Alexander or not, I only care if he's good to you."
"I only care if he's someone you can trust with your life."
These words were like a thorn, slowly piercing Elizabeth's heart.
Elizabeth finished her water and put down the cup.
Celine didn't reject Alexander; she was just afraid that Alexander would hurt Elizabeth.
